AWP at the World Congress of Psychiatry - Prague 2025

We were proud to represent AWP on the global stage at the World Congress of Psychiatry in Prague - celebrating what makes us a Great Place to Work.

As one of just 18 exhibitors - and the only NHS mental health provider in attendance - we connected with professionals from around the world. It was inspiring to see such enthusiasm, with 77 individuals expressing interest in learning more about careers at AWP.

"I want to be a crane supervisor when I grow up". One student fed back after a visit to the Kingfisher site, AWP's new specialist mental health facility at Blackberry Hill in Bristol. A few hours earlier, he hadn't known this career choice existed 🏗️

Students from SCS College had the opportunity to visit the site and learn about a career in construction by the project leads, Willmot Dixon.

For many students with additional learning needs, finding meaningful work experience or exposure to a live workplace is often a significant challenge. The site visit provided something they had all been searching for – an opportunity to be a part of a live workplace. 👷

We’re looking for Peer Support Practitioners to join our team at Blackberry Hill Hospital, Bristol.

If you have a learning disability and/or autism and have received support from mental health services, your lived experience will play a vital role in helping others find hope, make decisions for their own recovery, and feel understood. This might include:

💬 Listening and validating experiences
🌱 Sharing what helped you in your recovery
🤝 Being a positive role model
🗣️ Bringing the voice of lived experience into team discussions
