Hi all, hope everyone is keeping well in these unusual times.
Just wanted to mention in regards to COVID - 19 that my Sports Injury Clinic will be running as normally as possible for the time being.

Should anyone coming for an appointment be feeling unwell with Corona Symptoms or other then please do get in touch so that we can reschedule your session.

I am feeling fit and well despite being 20 weeks pregnant so I would like to continue to do so and also protect all of my patients to the best of my ability through the highest standards of hygiene and care.

If you have been in contact with anyone that has had Corona Symptoms or have any worries then please do phone or text.

Many thanks for your time, Adeleine

Calling all Skiers, it's time to start prepping for the slopes!

At Vibe Fitness Bath you can now sign up to 4 weeks of expert personal training and group fitness sessions specifically designed to improve your ski fitness.

This will involve injury prevention techniques so that you are 100 percent ready for the ski-season.
There are many ski injuries that can be prevented by exercise therapy, as you may know the stiffness of ski boots can cause a huge amount of tension in muscles of the lower leg, this is because a stiff ski boot does not allow adequate compensatory movement in the mid joints of the foot and the ankle.
Therefore It is very beneficial to increase your mobility and strength in the feet, calfs, hips etc leading up to your skiing and this is achieved with appropriate training.

A very common knee injury I see in my clinic with patients who have returned from a skiing holiday is patella tendinopathy and this can be caused by poor skiing posture, this can easily be addressed in a personal training session by working on correct squatting techniques and improving the leg muscles ability to allow for knee flexion without fatigue.

Preventing injuries of any sport can be achieved with the right guidance, I am always in favour of Prehab over Rehab so if you would like to find out more about how you can get the maximum out of your body through exercise and Sports therapy you can contact me on adeleine.blackman@yahoo.co.uk or the highly recommend Personal Trainers at Vibe Fitness on admin@vibefitness.co.uk

Thanks for listening guys and please feel free to share.

Such a busy start to the year and new trainers needed to help my poor tired feet.
Highly recommend Ultra Boost by Adidas for the flexi movement in the mid sole and energised stability in all the right places.

Looking Forward & Feeling Proud

Dear Adeleine,
Looking Forward & Feeling Proud

On behalf of the Board of Directors, Officers and Staff of The Society of Sports Therapists I would like to take this opportunity of wishing all Members a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous 2017.

The forthcoming year also promises to be an extremely interesting one too and one during which the Society will continue to actively lobby politicians, sports governing bodies, NHS commissioners and other stakeholders on behalf of its Members.

In the meantime, recognition of both The Society of Sports Therapists and its Members continues to grow, both nationally and internationally.
The Society continues to be frequently contacted for its advice, expertise and support. Much of this is due to both the professionalism of the Members and the services and skills that they provide at all levels of the sport, exercise and healthcare spectrum.

Members should always realise that they are the best ambassadors that The Society of Sports Therapists has and, as such, can do more for both the profession and the Society than they often appreciate. It is through Members’ actions and professionalism that the Society has continued to grow and be recognised, for not only its governance but its educational and academic attributes as well. Therefore, as a Member of The Society of Sports Therapists you should be proud of not only your profession but also what it has achieved in the relatively short time that it has been in existence.

Members should also acknowledge that academically and practically, it is Members of The Society of Sports Therapists who are recognised, appreciated and wanted. Also, that it is this status that is being recognised as the benchmark standards of care and duty. Therefore, it is only those who feel threatened by your knowledge, skills and expertise who are being negative about you, your profession and this organisation. Consequently, it is up to Members to put them right by both their actions and professionalism.

It can only have a positive effect.

In the meantime, best wishes & kind regards

Yours sincerely

Professor Graham N Smith
Chairman
For and on behalf of The Society of Sports Therapists
