A huge thank you to everyone who came, wrote letters, passed on their information to our Annual Remembrance Carol Service.

This year was the first time Carol was not there in person, and the second time for myself, as Ian (Carol's husband and my step-dad) sadly died in the early hours of Sunday Morning.

Everyone who sent or made a contribution towards this years charities : TIP (Time is Precious) and Bath Genesis Trust, thank you so so much. We appreciate with the way things have been and the Christmas time period things can be difficult, so every penny you all donated we are so thankful and grateful for.

In total, we raised a brilliant £600.50 which will be shared between the two charities.

Thank you so so much once more.

As many of you who came to our remembrance service on Sunday know (thank you all for attending, I will post an update soon) we at Clarkson's had a very personal loss on Sunday morning.

Ian, Carol's husband and Sophie's step-dad, sadly died in the early hours of Sunday morning. We were all blessed to have him at home with us whilst being there with him.

Ian was a big character who worked at Clarkson's for over 17 years as Pall Bearer and Logistics manager before his illness made work harder to do at the beginning of this year.

A thoughtful, funny, oftentimes silly man with a caring heart and a set of shoulders like a javelin thrower... a man who could fix most things including when the cars needed a tweak, who took pride in his work and cared for many families over the years with attention and care. He did a lot of work with family's but in particularly those who had lost little ones. He felt his time there was an honour and was with many family's as they faced those extremely difficult moments.

We miss him beyond words and want to thank you all for your very kind messages from those who were so understanding to Carol and myself for not being able to make the service on Sunday.

Thank you all so much for your wonderful responses, the tags for those who aren't able to make it, the shared memories of those we have loved and still hold so closely in our hearts and minds.

We look forward to seeing you this Sunday at St Stephen's Church, Lansdown, Bath to remember those we have lost.

Join us at 3pm on Sunday afternoon for Commemorative Carols hosted by Clarkson's Independent Funeral Directors Ltd.

The service is a space to remember those we have lost as we enter the festive season. This year, Clarkson's will be raising money and supporting Time is Precious and Genesis Trust Bath, both of which do amazing work for many people.

Please do stay for tea and refreshments following the service.

FULL-TIME JOB OPPORTUNITY:

We have an opening at Clarkson's for a full time staff member falling under the umbrella of "logistics, driver and Pall Bearer", working alongside our senior, Joshua Jones based predominantly in our Bath office with some work in Saltford and Frome when required.

Working Hours would be Monday - Friday, 9-5 (Saturday jobs when the occur are offered, but not demanded of)

You will be on the on call Rota (one week a month) as part of your contract, which will be paid in addition to your annual salary. This schedule is planned out in advance on a 6 month rota which is agreed upon to make sure everyone is free and it fits with their plans.

As a member of the Good Funeral Guide we have been asked to share a questionnaire for those who have been involved with or through any direct cremation company or funeral director, or essentially experienced a direct cremation service in the UK.

The Good Funeral Guide aim to achieve and help funeral directors provide the best service they can to and for clients and those in need of their services, and this questionannire has been put together to formulate an insight into the direct cremation area of funerals.

Anybody who is able to complete or share this and provide them with some much needed (and appreciated) insight, please do so to help them.

Direct cremation is growing in popularity in the UK, and the Good Funeral Guide CIC is keen to learn more as the funeral and bereavement landscape changes. There is very little research in this area, and we really want to understand more about any impact, positive or negative, that direct cremation....
