Our first programme of the year has come to an end! We loved seeing how our young adults made the most out of their evenings whilst on programme, from pub quizzes and takeaway nights to sound baths and lego. It was really great to see how the group connected during the three weeks they were with us. We can't wait to hear what they get up to when they come back for follow up in three months.

At Bath Centre for Pain Services, we’re committed to accessibility and inclusivity, ensuring individuals with a wide range of mobility and support needs can access a service that may not be available to them elsewhere.

We are incredibly proud of our nationally unique and purpose-built facilities. We offer both self-managing rooms and rooms designed for those with higher support needs. Our supported rooms feature accessible ensuites, mobility beds, and generous space for mobility aids. Every room is equipped with a call bell and access to 24/7 HCA support.
Our environment is intentionally designed to feel calm and homely rather than clinical, and we’re pleased to offer a wheelchair‑accessible garden for patients to enjoy.

This is Terry, one of our former patients, reflecting on his pain rehabilitation journey and the importance of being ready for treatment. For more ideas on how health professionals can navigate initial conversations with individuals transitioning to non-medical, non-cure-seeking chronic pain support pathways this webinar from BPS is worth watching.

Today’s theme for Health Information Week is Mental Health. At Bath Centre for Pain Services, we see mental health as a vital part of wellbeing. Living with persistent pain can impact many facets of an individuals mental and physical wellbeing. We want to play a part by using this platform to recognise the impact pain has on our mental health. This is why psychology is an integral part of all our programmes.

At BCPS, we offer a wide range of facilities to support patients throughout their pain rehabilitation journey. While many resources are available within our purpose-built building, we also make the most of the beautiful city of Bath. So, what are some of the facilities we have available? In this video, we discuss the different facilities and how they can play an important role within pain rehabilitation.

We hope you've had a great start to your 2026 🎉

Now that we're halfway through January we thought we'd share some of the exciting projects and changes we have planned for the rest of the year, including our new logo!

Our BCPS Co-Production Team have been working with Pain Concern on guest writing an edition of Pain Matters, focused on neurodiversity and pain which will hopefully be released this month.

We're also very excited for our clinicians to be presenting at conferences throughout the year, including:

🔹 British Pain Society Webinar - How Can Health Professionals effectively navigate initial conversation with individuals transitioning to non-medical/non-cure-seeking chronic pain support

🔹 Workshop at the BPS Conference - Understanding Young Adults with Pain: Developmental Context

🔹 British Society of Rheumatology Conference

🔹 European Paediatric Physiotherapy Congress 2026 in Stockholm

As a national centre, we see patients from all around the UK meaning some patients are travelling miles to access treatment which may pose its own challenges.

So why would people travel to Bath to receive treatment?

In this video, we explore how travelling and being away from home can be an important step within pain rehabilitation.

⭐At BCPS, we got into the Christmas spirit with our annual Christmas party! It was a wonderful opportunity for our team to connect and spend time together outside of work. We enjoyed some friendly competition as we put our bowling skills to the test, with plenty of laughs along the way. 🎳 🎄

It was a great way to come together and celebrate the year as a team. 💙

We recently had a wonderful visit from Daisy, one of the amazing therapy dogs! 🐾 One of our adolescents was thrilled to meet her and, as part of his programme, enjoyed taking Daisy for a walk around our accessible garden. Moments like these highlight how we incorporate patients’ interests and values into their rehabilitation programme.

We love to see the meaningful relationships patients form, using the weeks to not only engage with the programme but create memories and connections that continue after they have left us.

Our latest supported adults organised their own craft evening to prepare for the festive season. One of their projects was these wonderful Christmas gonks they made from scratch, with a little guidance from one of our healthcare assistants.

Thank you to everyone involved for bringing joy and festive cheer to the programme!🎄🎁
