Orthopaedic Hip Surgeon Harvey Sandhu Takes on Kenya for charity.
Harvey Sandhu has just returned from an incredible adventure in Kenya, where he joined 40 passionate fundraisers to cycle hundreds of kilometres across challenging terrain—all to raise money for Child.org, a charity with roots in Bristol.
Child.org works to support mums and babies in Nairobi by providing life-saving healthcare and vital information. Their mission is to keep mothers and their babies safe and healthy through digital and community-based approaches, partnering with pregnant women, new mums, committees, and healthcare authorities.
Inspired by the cause, Harvey flew to Kenya to take part in a five-day challenge, riding 100 km per day across sand and stony dirt tracks. The trip was self-funded, and while the charity provided bikes, Harvey took his own seat and pedals—though even those couldn’t make the route any easier!
The experience was full of challenges and emotions: from cycling through the Masai Mara National Reserve under the watchful eyes of rangers protecting the group from lions, to witnessing the breathtaking beauty of endless horizons.
Together, the team raised over £90,000 for Child.org—a phenomenal achievement that will make a real difference to mums and babies in Nairobi.
