Acne isn’t just ā€œacne.ā€

There are many different types of breakouts, and understanding them is the first step to actually dealing with the problem — not just covering it up.

In the image above, you’ll see several common forms:

•Whiteheads (closed comedones): clogged pores trapped under the skin
•Blackheads (open comedones): pores exposed to air, where oil oxidises
•Papules: small, red, inflamed bumps
•Pustules: inflamed spots with pus at the centre
•Cystic acne: deep, painful, inflamed lesions beneath the skin
•Nodules: large, hard, painful breakouts formed deep under the surface

Different appearance… but very often, the same root cause.

Inflammation.

Most breakouts — especially persistent or painful ones — are driven by inflammation in the skin. When inflammation is high, pores clog more easily, bacteria thrive, healing slows, and the skin stays stuck in a cycle of flare-ups and damage.

This is where things often go wrong.

The beauty and skincare industry is a multi-billion-pound machine, constantly pushing harsher actives, stripping products, aggressive treatments, lasers and resurfacing — many of which focus on the aftermath of breakouts rather than the reason they keep happening. In some cases, this actually worsens inflammation, leaving skin more reactive, sensitive and dependent on even more.

Did you know that CBD & CBG Creams can deal with inflammation? 🌱

Treat the root, not just the surface.

Starting with a lower CBD dosage is always a great place to begin. The key is knowing when to adjust your dose, whether that means increasing or decreasing your milligrams based on how you’re feeling. Everyone’s needs are different.

Personally, I’ve recently increased my CBD intake to help with tough winter mornings and finding that extra motivation to get going. As summer rolls in and my routine shifts, I’ll likely lower my dosage again. Your lifestyle, environment, and daily demands all play a role.

If you need guidance, our team is always happy to help. Send us a message or an email and we’ll point you in the right direction.

CBD works with the endocannabinoid system, which both dogs and cats naturally have. As shown here, cannabinoid receptors (CB1 and CB2) are found throughout the brain, immune system, organs, joints, skin, and more. Because of this, CBD can support the body as a whole, not just one issue.

For dogs and cats, CBD is commonly used to help support:
• Joint and mobility comfort
• Calm behavior and stress response
• Healthy immune function
• Digestive balance
• Skin and coat health
• Overall wellness as they age

CB1 receptors are mainly linked to the nervous system and brain, helping with balance, mood, and comfort.
CB2 receptors are more involved with the immune system and peripheral organs, supporting inflammation response and recovery.

Every pet is different, but when used properly and with quality products, CBD can be a gentle, natural option to support both dogs and cats from the inside out 🐾
