Locala Health & Wellbeing

Locala Health & Wellbeing Providing NHS community services across Kirklees, Calderdale, Bradford, and Greater Manchester.

Locala is a not-for-profit social enterprise that is proud to provide a variety of NHS community healthcare services to people in Kirklees, Calderdale and Bradford. Those services care for, and support people, from before birth to end of life, ranging from health visitors to physiotherapy, and sexual health to district nursing, as well as dental care, school nurses, and foot care. We’re a not-for-profit social enterprise, so we are in the great position of having the flexibility to tailor our services to meet the needs of our communities - and any financial surplus is re-invested straight back into supporting patient care. It's 🌟

This week we want to give a thank you to our amazing SPEN Community Nursing Team and all of our community nurses who work tirelessly across the network.

Day in and day out, you show up for patients and families in their own homes and communities with kindness, compassion and professionalism. The reassurance you give, the conversations you have, and the care you provide truly make a difference - often in ways that can’t always be seen.

Thank you for everything you do. We are so proud of you all. 💙

🌟 Feedback Friday 🌟

A huge thank you to our Self Management Team for going above and beyond to support service users in caring for themselves with confidence and dignity.

One service user shared this lovely feedback about Julie, highlighting the compassion, patience and reassurance provided during what can be a daunting time following emergency surgery.

This feedback perfectly reflects the team’s commitment to empowering people to manage their own care, while offering kindness, reassurance and excellent clinical support.

Thank you for the difference you make every day. 💙👏

Yesterday, we were delighted to host Steph Lawrence MBE, Chief Executive of the Queen’s Institute of Community Nursing (QICN), at Dewsbury Health Centre.

During her visit, we shared our ambitions as a social enterprise, including how we aim to give back more to our communities, ensure equity of outcomes, transform our workforce, and showcase the outstanding work taking place across our services.

Stephanie also spent the time shadowing our brilliant colleagues in the Children’s Diabetes MDT clinic.

We would like to thank Stephanie for taking the time to visit us. 👏

On 12th November, Cancer Champions from Ability Options Support Services and the Kirklees Involvement Network, supported by Cloverleaf Advocacy, joined us for an inclusive session on cervical cancer and screening.

Led by Dr Maddy Crow, Consultant in Locala Sexual Health, the session broke down barriers with easy-read materials and practical tips to make cervical screening less daunting.

✅ 87.5% rated the session as good
✅ 100% said the information was easy to understand
✅ Champions left feeling more confident to talk about cancer

This project, funded by the West Yorkshire and Harrogate Cancer Alliance, is helping empower communities to share life-saving messages.

Please share this message: If you’re invited for cervical screening, go—and encourage others to do the same.

Due to the cold weather, there may be patches of black ice in some areas. Please take extra care when travelling around our communities over the next few days. If you are attending one of our services or visiting patients, please look after yourself and take extra care. 🥶

We would like to wish our colleagues, volunteers, community members, partners, and service users a very Happy New Year.

Thank you to everyone for your contributions throughout 2025. At Locala, we are particularly thankful to our colleagues who continue to show outstanding care, commitment, and compassion every day. Your hard work and support make a real difference, and we could not do what we do without you.

As we look ahead, we are excited about 2026 and look forward to continuing to work together, strengthening our services, and making a positive difference in the communities we serve.

Not sure if this is for you?

That’s OK.

We often support people who feel unsure, stuck, or overwhelmed.

The first step is just a conversation - no commitment, no expectations.
