What is love?

The dictionary says:
“A strong feeling of affection.”
“To like someone or something very much.”

But when we try to define something so profound with simple words,
it can feel like we’re missing the point.

Love is not just a feeling.
It’s something we live.
In the quiet presence of someone who stays.
In the way we care, even when it’s hard.
In the slow work of returning to ourselves.

At True Nature Therapy, love is seen as an integral part of healing not romantic, not idealised
but the kind of love that’s patient, honest, and grounded.
The kind that makes space for all of you.

Maybe love isn’t something to define or something new to understand, perhaps it’s something deep within us that we already know, without words.

🤍

Did you know that getting your hands in the soil can have huge benefits to our physical and mental well-being? 🌿

Soil is sometimes known as nature’s antidepressant due to amazing mood enhancing properties:

Research suggests that contact with the soil, especially through gardening, can trigger the release of serotonin and dopamine, which are neurotransmitters associated with feelings of well-being. 😋

Getting your hands in the soil can also improve gut health and boost your immune system:

Soil microbes can be transferred to the body when we touch the soil, which can increase the diversity of bacteria in our gut, contributing to better gut health. 🦠

How fabulous is that 😌

Just like the spirals in galaxies, the unfolding of a rose, or the branching of trees, life itself follows an organic rhythm. When we try to control too much, we disrupt this natural flow. But when we surrender, trust, and allow things to emerge, we align with something greater than ourselves.

Understand from the first this certainty. Butterflies don’t write books, neither do lilies or violets. Which doesn’t mean they don’t know, in their own way, what they are. That they don’t know they are alive—that they don’t feel, that action upon which all consciousness sits, lightly or heavily. Humility is the prize of the leaf-world. Vainglory is the bane of us, the humans.Sometimes the desire to be lost again, as long ago, comes over me like a v***r. With growth into adulthood, responsibilities claimed me, so many heavy coats. I didn’t choose them, I don’t fault them, but it took time to reject them. Now in the spring I kneel, I put my face into the packets of violets, the dampness, the freshness, the sense of ever-ness. Something is wrong, I know it, if I don’t keep my attention on eternity. May I be the tiniest nail in the house of the universe, tiny but useful. May I stay forever in the stream. May I look down upon the windflower and the bull thistle and the coreopsis with the greatest respect. Mary Oliver (1935-2019)From: Upstream – Selected Essays
