I have worked in the field of Clinical psychology since 2003 in a range of settings and continue to work part-time within the NHS. I have expertise in helping people with a range of emotional, behavioural and cognitive difficulties, often related to difficult life experiences and poor physical health. I have helped people with conditions such as anxiety, depression, insomnia, adjustment difficulties, loss, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). I work with adults, aged 18+ and am trained in various therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Behavioural Family Therapy (BFT) and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). I also draw from approaches such as Dialetical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) and Motivation Interviewing (MI). I initially use psychological assessment and 'formulation' to develop a shared understanding of the presenting difficulties, the onset and development of these, as well as factors that might be keeping them going and factors that are helping to alleviate them. This process in itself, can be validating and tremendously helpful as a way of making sense of difficulties. Following this, I help clients consider specific goals to focus on in sessions and we then agree a flexible therapy plan, using evidence-based techniques and drawing on a range of approaches, to achieve these goals. I am also happy to use sessions in a more exploratory manner for those who prefer this approach and am happy to adapt/ tailor my approach for neurodivergent clients or those with specific sensory or learning needs. I am very genuine, caring and practical and thoroughly enjoy helping people achieve their goals and improve their emotional wellbeing. I can offer appointments face-to-face at The Wellbeing Rooms in Bearsden (https://www.thewellbeingrooms.org.uk), or via telephone/ video.
