What a fabulous Christmas Service led by Rev'd Julie Cartwright and Penny Warren. Some wonderful carols accompanied by some wonderful singing from us all. A very special version of the birth of Christ acted out by Julie, Penny and Tim and animal noises courtesy of our residents and their families. To finish, an exquisite spread of festive food made by our very own kitchen staff. A wonderful way to conclude the last Sunday Service of 2025. Many thanks to all our lay preachers, those present and those who could not be with us today. Your time and dedication is always gratefully received and appreciated by us all at West Heanton.

A fabulous Christmas surprise for one lucky lady who received a miniature Christmas tree in the post ! Full of lovely things to decorate it with. Our resident loved putting the star on the top 🌟 🤩

A lovely peaceful craft making day here in the home 🏡 some of our residents made beautiful hand made cards whilst others played cards and domino's 😊

It was all hands on deck for Friday's Baking Club as they peeled and grated a pile of parsnips for a day centre client's choice of cake, Parsnip Cake. Maddie and Mike provided the Friday funsters with all they needed, including lots of fruit and nuts to go into the cake. It was enjoyed by all for afternoon tea while watching the photos of our intrepid Mike's recent visit to Nepal. Fantastic trip, thank you Mike for sharing this with us.

Thank you everyone who participated in our Elf Day. There were lots of laughter and fun with staff and residents dressing up and playing games. Our raffle was well supported both with donations and ticket sales. We raised £214.00 in total which will go directly to The Alzheimer's Society to support those individuals and families living with dementia. Thank you for helping us smash our target.

Day Centre got straight to work this morning with putting together the bases and boxes for the mini Christmas cakes that we made in October. Once the boxes were ready, we cracked on with slicing off the tops of the cakes ready for the marzipan and icing. Finally the cake toppers which feature traditional images. We're sure you'll agree they look wonderful and we can tell you they taste fantastic as we had the toppers with ice cream for afternoon snack 😋. We revisited our ice sculpture activity from Tuesday and revealed some wonderful 'feathers' in the ice and enjoyed feeling how smooth and cold the ice was. Beautiful 😍.

Lots of lovely 1--1 time in the home today reminiscing and remembering Christmas as a child in the snow ❄️ 🙂
One lucky resident had a birthday parcel delivered which he thoroughly enjoyed opening 😀

We've had a fun Elf day here today. Staff dressed up, there was snowball throwing and catapulting, snowball toss, Christmas pairs, build an elf, reindeer hoopla, tin can alley, gnome making, Christmas this or that and lots of laughter at our silly headgear and glasses. Thank you everybody for your support. Including the justgiving page we have raised £208 for The Alzheimer's Society. Thank you all.
