It can be difficult when you move into a new environment to make friends. A few lucky ladies got to have an afternoon tea and get to know each other a little better, thanks to George and Tilly who laid on a lovely spread. The ladies have requested they meet once a month. Beautiful ❤️

We explored World Kindness Day in day centre today and wrote an act of kindness that we had experienced or that we had initiated. We read them to each other and then hung them on the tree in reception. In the afternoon we made 100 words from World Kindness and then gathered around for a game of crazy eights. Lovely day.

Day centre explored Inter-faith Week, talked about religion, it's practices and our own beliefs. We had a visit from Hugo the bulldog, played bingo, higher or lower and enjoyed a bit of stretching.

There was music in the air in the house today with the Mamas and Papas, Elvis and the Everly Brothers getting a good response with some singing, dancing and playing instruments and we refreshed our gameplay on patience.

We had a wonderful trip to Affinity in Bideford today where the Ladies treated themselves to some festive wear and enjoyed walking around stopping to talk to people with dogs, staff members and day centre clients! Chez Asda was our choice of restaurant for lunch 😂, where we grabbed a selfie with Pudsie Bear and made a donation. Then it was onwards to BJ stores to see their wonderful Christmas display. Fantastic!

A reflective day today for Remembrance Day. We painted the poppy fields using acrylics, observed two minute silence, had a Remembrance Day quiz, read a poem by Lance Corporal I Celner called Battle Interlude and was presented with a slideshow compiled by one of our residents of various memorials around the country which he and his wife had visited. A sombre day, remembering all those that gave their lives.

Hollie took the activity reins today in house and engaged our residents with make a word, dominoes and card games.

Wednesday 3rd December is Elf Day at West Heanton. It's that time of year again, when staff dress up as Elves, throw snowballs, play games and other shenanigans. It's always a fun filled day for our residents, day centre clients and staff. We are looking for donations for our raffle which are gratefully received in reception or day centre or you may donate via the justgiving page below. Many thanks 😁

Today here at West heanton we made the most of this beautiful weather and Dawn and Cody did creative activities both inside and outside the house 🏠 . Even the cat 🐈 joined in 🤣. We explored with colours crayons and chalk to make stained glass leaf display which our residents enjoyed alongside puzzles , a quiz , wordseaches scrable and ball games. I'm sure we will all sleep well tonight 😊

In house activities with Tilly were talking about things that lead to Christmas and looking at Winter. One resident was so pleased with her drawings of mountains with snow and leaves while another was studying the lines of a detailed flower colouring book. Very chilled Friday.
