Walk-in Cervical Screening - Saturday 18th October 2025 at the Friarage Hospital.

Hello, we're YorSexual Health. On Saturday 18th October 2025, we'll be holding a walk in cervical screening (smear) clinic from 10am and 3pm at The Friarage Hospital in Northallerton and we'd love to see you there. All you need to do is turn up on the day with your NHS number. Check out our new website yorsexualhealth.org.uk/wellbeing/cervical-screening for more information on cervical screening, details of our clinics, and information on how to book an appointment instead.

Cervical screening (also known as a smear test) is a simple test that checks the health of your cervix (the opening to your womb). Catch-up vaccines

Measles, mumps and rubella are highly infectious illnesses, with potentially life-changing complications, that can easily spread between unvaccinated people. Children need two doses of the safe and effective MMR vaccine. Both doses are needed to ensure full and lasting protection against measles, mumps and rubella.

If your child has missed either of these two doses, please contact us for an appointment. It’s never too late to catch up and protect those around you.

World Sepsis Day, 13th September

Every three seconds, someone dies of sepsis. World Sepsis Day is the annual reminder of the importance of early recognition of this dangerous condition.

Sepsis happens when the body attacks itself following an infection. It may lead to shock, multi-organ failure and death, so it’s vital to pick it up quickly.

Knowing the signs can help early intervention and a greater chance of survival. Symptoms can vary, and can be particularly difficult to spot in babies and children. If you’re ever worried, ask your doctor, β€œIs this sepsis?”

NHS information about the symptoms of sepsis in children and adults, and where and when to get help.

The Rector and Four & Twenty of Bedale.
THE BEDALE WELFARE CHARITY SINCE 1608

The Rector and 4&20 have received legacies and donations for over 400 years, to relieve hardship experienced by residents of the parishes of Aiskew, Bedale, Burrill with Cowling, Crakehall, Firby, Langthorne, Leeming Bar, and Rand Grange and to support individuals or groups in the pursuit of educational achievement.

If you, or someone you know, is in need of financial assistance that isn’t covered by the state benefit system, the 4&20 may be able to help.

For example, assistance might be available with the consequences of the sudden loss of a job, escaping domestic abuse, unexpected dental costs, school uniform or help with the cost of school trips. The trustees have wide discretion when making grants.

Please contact the Clerk for further information.

Cardiovascular Disease Prevention- "Share your views to help our community have healthier hearts"

Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board are working closely with partners across the health and care system to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease across our local community. A key part of this programme of work involves raising awareness of the importance of knowing your blood pressure and cholesterol numbers and how to get tested.

A survey has been designed to capture people's thoughts and views to help improve our understanding and improve local services and support. We would greatly appreciate if you would complete the survey and share this opportunity with staff members and service users.
