As ever, it's been great teaching the MSc students studying for their postgraduate qualification in Applied Animal Behaviour and Welfare this week. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=342754770642582&id=111706447080750

The MSc Applied Animal Behaviour and Welfare Students have been undertaking a mock behaviour consultation for part of their Behaviour Modification and Therapy module assessment. They received a client questionnaire and then undertook a consultation in the UCAB clinic with an owner and their animal where they practised their consultation skills developed over that module and their previous module (Principles and practices in behaviour consultation) gathering information, undertaking differential diagnosis, risk assessment and suggesting behavioural first aid advice as well as an initial treatment plan. All supported by our expert teaching team Loni Loftus Clinical Animal Behaviourist and Mel Fallon.

The evolution of Loni Loftus Behaviour

Loni holds a BSc (Hons) in Equine Science and an MSc in Applied Animal Behaviour and Welfare, she is also a trained educator and is completing a PhD at Newcastle University in animal behaviour and welfare.

Loni has worked in animal training and behaviour for nearly two decades and practices as a clinical animal behaviourist taking on horse, dog and cat cases. Loni also works as a lecturer at a number of UK universities specialising in Animal science, behaviour and welfare. She writes for a number of academic journals as well as continuing her active involvement in behaviour and welfare research. Loni's research interests are based around injury, disease, rehabilitation, behaviour and welfare with current research in the areas of equine performance horse welfare, positive affective state in animals and farm animal welfare.

Loni is a Full member of the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors for horses, cats and dogs and is registered on the Animal Behaviour and Training Council register of Clinical Animal Behaviourists and also as an Animal Training Instructor.
