🌿Reasons why I chose to be a counsellor🌿
Before becoming a counsellor, I spent many years working in the care sector in palliative care, secure mental health units, elderly care, learning disabilities and education. Through these experiences, I saw how important it is for people to have someone who will truly listen to them in a safe, non-judgmental, and empathetic environment.
Wanting to explore this further, I became involved with several charities, supporting clients experiencing deep distress, suicidal thoughts, and families under extreme pressure. This gave me experience helping people with a wide range of challenges including relationship and family issues, depression, anxiety, OCD, bereavement, and anger management.
The fulfilment I felt from helping others inspired me to pursue counselling professionally. After qualifying, I continued my training in areas like loss and grief, and worked as a bereavement counsellor for a large charity, supporting individuals through some of life’s most difficult moments. I also gained an Advanced Certificate in Life Coaching, which allows me to guide clients towards more positive and fulfilling lifestyles.
I believe my own life experiences have shaped me most as a counsellor. Having faced and overcome challenges myself, I bring a deep empathy and understanding to the work I do.
I hold an up-to-date Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate, enabling me to work safely with vulnerable adults. I am a fully qualified, registered counsellor with the International Society of Psychotherapy and Counselling, adhere to their ethical framework, and hold full professional indemnity insurance.
If you are feeling overwhelmed or simply need someone to listen, I am here to help.
Feel free to send me a message to arrange a confidential chat sometimes taking that first step is the hardest, but it can make all the difference.
