This has been recorded yesterday, sorry for a late upload.
Hope you have started Good New Week and, started your week with positive Intention.
18th October, we had World Menopause Day and, I wanted to bring an awareness into this transition for those women who are going through...
A moment to bring awareness, compassion, and understanding to a stage that every woman will eventually experience.
In the Western world, menopause is often seen as something to treat or fix. But what if we chose to see it differently?
Menopause isn’t a disease. It’s not a malfunction. It’s your body finding a new rhythm — a natural transition from creation to wisdom, from doing to being. When the body stops creating life outside, it begins creating life within.
Across cultures, this life stage is honoured in very different ways:
💫 In Ayurveda (India), this stage is called Vanaprastha — a sacred time for wisdom, joy, and purpose.
💫 In South America, menopause is known as “El Cambio de Vida” — the change of life — symbolizing transformation and renewal.
💫 In Japan, the word Konenki combines meanings of “renewal,” “energy,” and “years,” reminding us that this is a time of regeneration, not decline.
đź’« Among Mayan and Cree women, menopause marks the beginning of spiritual authority. Women become keepers of wise blood, stepping into their roles as healers and leaders in their communities.
No wonder many Mayan women look forward to menopause — it brings newfound freedom, purpose, and respect.
In contrast, the very word menopause in the West (from the Greek men, meaning “month,” and pausis, meaning “to stop”) gives no deeper meaning to this sacred threshold. No wonder so many women feel lost — we’ve forgotten to celebrate this passage.
But the truth is:
Menopause doesn’t need fixing — it needs understanding.
It’s not the end of womanhood — it’s the beginning of selfhood.
It’s not depletion — it’s rebalance.
This is the time to listen to your body and nurture it gently.
🌿 Eat grounding, nourishing meals — think warm foods, Amla (Indian gooseberries), flaxseeds, sesame seeds, reishi mushrooms, cordyceps, lion's mane, etc...
🌿 Sleep deeply and live slowly — these are your new medicines.
🌿 Embrace practices like meditation, yoga, journaling, chanting, calming sounds and autumn/ winter walks.
And, absolutely, strengthening exercises for a bone density - which will talk about next time... but for now... slower, softer and, nurturing approach for supporting our nervous system. When the body slows down, the soul finally speaks.
And yes, while hormone therapy can be helpful for many, lifestyle, diet, and mindset play a powerful role in easing this transition.
Let me know if you need a support with anything or supporting yourself well and like to share... Let’s keep learning, sharing, and supporting one another.
And, let's not only survive through this transition but let's THRIVE through it - - - together!
Selfhood - is - a transition to balance. A return to self. A sacred renewal.
Much love,
Julia xx
