🌡️ Flu Alert: Record Highs This Winter!

As flu cases continue to rise, it's crucial to protect yourself and those around you. This winter, young and older individuals are particularly vulnerable, making vaccination more important than ever! 💉

Your GP Surgery is offering the FREE NHS flu vaccine for those at higher risk of serious illness, including:

Adults & Carers:
65 and over (including those turning 65 by 31 March 2026)
People with long-term health conditions
Pregnant individuals
Residents of care homes
Carers or those receiving a carer’s allowance
Anyone living with someone who has a weakened immune system
Frontline health and social care workers

Children:
Aged 2 or 3 years on 31 August 2025 (born between 1 September 2021 and 31 August 2023)
School-age children from Reception to Year 11
Children 6 months+ with certain long-term conditions
Household contacts of immunosuppressed individuals

Abbott has identified that some FreeStyle Libre 3 and Libre 3 Plus sensors may give incorrect low glucose readings. If undetected, this could lead to incorrect treatment decisions, which may pose serious health risks.

What you need to do:
- Check your sensor: Visit www.FreeStyleCheck.com and select “CONFIRM SENSOR SERIAL NUMBER”.
- Stop using affected sensors: If your sensor is listed as potentially affected, discontinue use immediately.
- Request a replacement: Enter your contact information on the website to receive a free replacement sensor.
- Use a glucose meter for treatment decisions if your sensor readings don’t match symptoms.

Where to find the sensor serial number:
- On the sensor carton or applicator label
- In the FreeStyle Libre 3 app or Reader

Let’s make sure emergency services are there for those who truly need them. Here’s what to do and not do:

✅ Do:

- Use NHS 111 for 24/7 medical advice
- Visit your pharmacy for minor illnesses like sore throats, earaches or rashes
- Use self-referral services like physio, mental health support, and sleep help
- Seek help early to avoid worsening symptoms

❌ Don’t:

- Go to A&E for minor conditions or non-urgent issues
- Wait until symptoms become severe before seeking help
- Use emergency services when local support is available

Let’s work together to ease pressure on our NHS and keep A&E available for life-threatening emergencies only.

Gardening for Wellbeing is HERE! 🌷💚

A brilliant collaborative project between Warwickshire Wildlife Trust, Nuneaton and Bedworth PCN, and WCAVA brings you the opportunity to take part in FREE gardening taster sessions !! No need to worry about the weather as all sessions will take place indoors so you will be warm and dry in the winter months 🙂

What's included?
- A simple gardening activity and nature based craft 🌿
- Take-home treats! You get to take home something you've grown or made. 🌻
- A hot drink and a friendly chat with the team and fellow participants. 🤝
- The chance to express what kind of gardening activities you'd like to do! 🗣️

No experience is required—just come as you are!
