Since last International Women’s Day, 13,946 women have donated blood with us. That means up to 41,838 lives could have been saved. 🩸💖

👉 That’s thousands of families helped, thousands of people supported, and thousands of reasons to say thank you.

We’re delighted to celebrate an incredible milestone — Seamus Mc Ateer’s 50th blood donation.

Seamus began donating 27 years ago when he started his job, after a friend took him along for the first time. That simple invitation sparked a lifesaving commitment to helping others.

For anyone unsure about donating, Seamus says, “There’s not much to it, everyone is very friendly at the donation suite, and there are nice buns afterwards!”

He always had a personal goal to reach 50 donations before his 50th birthday — and he’s proudly achieved it. Even better, he hopes to continue donating for many years to come.

Thank you, Seamus, for your generosity and dedication. Fifty donations are an incredible achievement and a powerful example of how one person can make a real difference. 💛

In Northern Ireland three people are transfused every hour and over 800 units of red blood cells are used each week. Donation is simple and usually takes less than an hour yet only 6% of the eligible population donates.
