Another Challenging Set of Virgin Lips

Today’s transformation features a naturally difficult lip anatomy:

Does Zinc Really Make Btx Last Longer? Here’s the Honest Truth.

You may have seen claims online that taking zinc supplements can make your Btx last longer.
So… is it true? Kind of - but not for everyone, and not in a dramatic way. Here’s the straight, honest breakdown. 👇

What the research actually shows

A few small clinical studies found that zinc (especially a specific form: zinc citrate combined with phytase) may improve or slightly extend the effects of botulinum toxin for some people.

One study reported an average 20-30% longer duration in patients who took zinc + phytase for 4 days before treatment.
A study on “gummy smile” treatment also showed a longer-lasting result in the zinc group.
Animal studies support the theory, but those don’t always translate directly to humans.
A recent review of available research says: “promising, but not enough high-quality data.”

Why zinc might help

B*tulinum tox is zinc-dependent.
If someone has a mild zinc deficiency, supplementing may slightly enhance how well the toxin works.

But here’s the catch

✔️ Not everyone is zinc deficient
✔️ Not all forms of zinc work the same
✔️ The evidence is still limited - no large clinical trials yet
✔️ High doses of zinc long-term can cause problems (like copper deficiency)

So it’s not a magic trick for longer-lasting Btx.
It’s not guaranteed to work.
And it’s definitely not something everyone needs.

What’s safe and reasonable?

If you want to try it, the only protocol that showed benefits used:

50 mg zinc citrate + phytase for 3-4 days before treatment

…but it should be done short-term, not daily long-term.

My honest advice

If you’re curious, talk to your practitioner / GP first.
If you already take zinc or suspect a deficiency, it might help.
If not Btx will still work perfectly well without it.

Zinc can be a small bonus, not a miracle.
