Need help sleeping? You’re not alone.
After Christmas, it’s very common for sleep to feel unsettled.
Changes in routine, later nights, richer food, alcohol, and the general busyness of the festive season can leave the body struggling to fully switch off. As the new year begins, many people notice broken sleep, racing thoughts, or waking feeling like they haven’t slept at all.
Sleep is essential for both physical and emotional wellbeing. Even a few nights of poor rest can affect mood, focus, immunity, and our ability to cope with stress.
While adults are generally advised to get 7-9 hours of sleep, many are getting far less - especially at this time of the year.
Sleep isn’t just about how tired we feel.
Our ability to rest well is influenced by many quiet, underlying factors - including stress levels, how regulated the nervous system feels, inflammation in the body, and whether we’re getting the nutrients our brain and body need to function smoothly.
When these areas are out of balance, sleep can become lighter, more broken, or harder to reach.
This is why I often take a gentle, holistic view when supporting sleep.
Reflexology can help calm and regulate the nervous system, supporting the body to move out of “fight or flight” and into a more restful state. Many people notice deeper, more settled sleep following treatment.
For anyone wanting a clearer picture of what may be influencing their sleep, a simple at home test can provide insight into nutritional balance. This allows support to be more personalised and considered, rather than relying on guesswork.
If sleep has been difficult, especially as you move into the new year, know you’re not alone.
If you’d like to try reflexology, testing, or a more personalised approach to sleep support, I’m always happy to chat.
