🎉🐾 Yappy Birthday to Eddie! 🐾🎉

Our lovely Eddie turns **12 years old today**! 💛
He’s had his ups and downs with his health, but he continues to amaze us with his resilience and gentle spirit.

Eddie attends our physiotherapy clinic, has regular check-ins with our vet Lisa, and enjoys hydrotherapy sessions in both our underwater treadmill and pool — all helping him maintain strength and keep moving comfortably.

Everyone here absolutely adores him. Eddie is a huge fan of cuddles, pamper sessions, and soaking up all the attention… which we’re more than happy to provide for many more years to come. 💕🐶

🌊 Controlled Swimming in Warm Water – Why It’s Amazing for Your Dog 🌡️🐾

Did you know that therapeutic swimming in warm water is one of the safest and most effective ways to help dogs build strength, improve mobility, and reduce pain? Demonstrated by one of our patients Poppy and therapist Curtis.

At Vet Rehab NI, our controlled hydrotherapy sessions are carried out in 32–34°C water, allowing muscles to relax while reducing pressure on sore joints. This makes it ideal for:

📣 Today I got my wheels… get the tissues ready. 🥹💙
Meet Teddy, the bravest Staffordshire Bull Terrier with a heart far bigger than his challenges.

Teddy had a hind limb amputated in February last year, and as a young dog, he was also diagnosed with bilateral hip dysplasia. Despite everything, he has remained bright, happy, motivated and full of love. But watching his world become more limited has been incredibly hard for his mum and dad.

After a full assessment with our vet, Lisa, our incredible wheelchair maker — the wonderful Angel Bob — built Teddy his very own bespoke set of wheels. And today… he got them fitted. 🥹✨

His wheelchair is designed so Teddy can use two wheels or four, depending on how he’s feeling. If he’s sore or tired, the chair will support him. If he wants to push himself, he has the freedom to do so safely.

Teddy will continue to come for his maintenance hydrotherapy too — essential for keeping his core strong, protecting his forelimbs, and helping him stay mobile and confident.

We are absolutely delighted for Teddy and cannot wait to see the adventures he’ll now enjoy.

No exaggeration — this beautiful German Shepherd has been through *so* much. Finn has faced medical complications, a very painful paw needing repeated dressings, and days when he really wasn’t feeling his best.

But through it all?

Why are we using the incline feature on the underwater treadmill for Darcy?

For dogs like Darcy who have hind-limb weakness, adding an incline is a brilliant way to gently strengthen the areas that need the most support.

🐾 It increases hind-limb engagement
Walking uphill naturally shifts more of the work to the back legs, helping Darcy build strength where she needs it most.

🦴 It improves joint movement
The incline encourages better flexion and extension of the hips, stifles and hocks, helping to improve her stride pattern.

💪 It strengthens core and spinal stability
As the back legs work harder, Darcy’s core activates too, supporting posture and balance.
