We are deeply saddened to share this update.

The scale of the cuts that have taken affect today will have a profound and immediate impact on Disabled people and on the organisations that support them. The words of support offered are not enough, when inaction has resulted in no realistic path forward for a sector already stretched beyond breaking point.
In recent weeks, DANI have faced the painful reality of losing passionate, skilled colleagues who dedicated themselves to improving life skills, independence, and opportunities for Disabled people. These losses are are felt every day in the lives of those who rely on vital services that are now at risk.

We remain fully committed to constructive engagement that turns concern into concrete action. Without a workable and timely solution, communities across Northern Ireland will face lasting and irreparable harm.

The warnings of the voluntary and community sector have been consistent and clear. We cannot simply step back and allow essential support to vanish. Disabled people cannot wait for stability, clarity, and sustainable investment in the services they depend on.

Today, the cuts to voluntary and community sector services have taken effect.

After months of engagement and clear warnings from organisations across Northern Ireland, no solution was secured in time. Services are now reducing or closing, staff are losing their jobs, and thousands of people will no longer have access to the support they rely on.

This situation was avoidable. It is the result of decisions taken - and not taken - over many months.

The need for these services has not gone away. The impact will now be felt by individuals, families and communities, and across public services already under significant pressure.

We remain deeply concerned at the absence of action to prevent this outcome, and we will continue to press for the solutions and leadership needed to address the gap that now exists.

In just two days, over 60 organisations supporting the most marginalised in our society will face a catastrophic funding cliff edge.

Time is running out.

We are deeply grateful to all the political representatives at both Stormont and Westminster who have spoken out over recent months in support of our services.

However, this issue has been debated and delayed for months. For too long, it has been caught up in political finger pointing rather than decisive action from those with the power to resolve it.

Hundreds of jobs and the essential supports they provide to thousands of people are acutely at risk. Without urgent intervention, critical services will be lost.

Futures, stability, and opportunities are on the line.

has waited.
NI now needs action.
Decision makers must act now, before it is too late.

It is with great sadness that we say a final goodbye to a dear friend and Colleague. Ursula Marshall served on our board of Directors, and was involved in many organisations, including Chair of Mid-Mid Ulster Disability Forum and a founding member of Mobility Mid Ulster just to name a few.

Ursula was a dedicated activist, and a tireless advocate for inclusion and equality. Her service and dedication to championing disability has profoundly shaped a better, more accessible future for everyone in NI.

We extend our deepest sympathies to her Family.
