This post from the great hit me HARD!!

Recently I’ve been noticing just how much screens (phones, PlayStations and iPads) have been stopping myself and my loved ones from actually going and doing REAL THINGS.

Connecting with people on social media, but not actually meeting up with people in real life…

Playing sport on the PlayStation, but not going and kicking a real football.

There’s nothing wrong with doing a measured amount of these things that involve screens, but let’s make sure that it’s not at the expense of actually doing REAL THINGS…

So, I’m making an effort to encourage people to go do real, enjoyable, potentially challenging things.

Bake some brownies with your partner.

Take your kid to a football match.

Go camping.

Take a drive up the north coast and take a walk in the rain.

BTW, I’m not judging and saying I do all there amazing things and never sit on a screen… I’m saying that I’ve noticed a reduction in how many real-world activities we do these days, so I’m changing it.

The biggest mistake people make when trying to build new habits?

They start too big.

💬As James Clear says in Atomic Habits — make the habit so small it’s impossible not to do it.

Don’t aim for an hour walk if you’re not walking at all.

🚶🏻‍♂️Start with 10 minutes — five minutes out, five minutes back.

Once it feels easy, build from there.

💪The same goes for training.

If you’ve lost your rhythm, don’t overthink it.

Just get in the door, move for 20–30 minutes, and rebuild from there.
