We are proud to be partnering with Ulster University to launch IDE Lab @ CEBE, a new partnership initiative that brings entrepreneurial thinking and innovation into the academic experience of over 450 second and final-year students studying computing, engineering and the built environment.

This will be delivered in collaboration with Ulster’s Research & Innovation team, the School of Engineering (Belfast), and the School of Computing, Engineering & Intelligent Systems (Derry~Londonderry).

It will incorporate Design Thinking and Disciplined Entrepreneurship workshops into final-year project modules, alongside Innovation Driven Enterprise (IDE) start-up hackathons and guest lectures. All elements have been co-designed with academic staff to ensure they are relevant and impactful.

Yesterday, Catalyst welcomed distinguished guests and partners to its Derry-Londonderry office for the official launch of NWCAM2 (North West Centre for Advanced Manufacturing 2). The transformative cross-border initiative is a project supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB). It is designed to accelerate innovation and sustainable manufacturing across the life and health sciences sector in Northern Ireland and the border counties of Ireland.

NWCAM2 will be delivered in partnership with Atlantic Technology University, North West Regional College, Ulster University, Trinity College Dublin and Irish Manufacturing Research.

NWCAM2 builds on the success of the original NWCAM programme, which delivered high-impact innovations such as rapid-response ventilator technology during the COVID-19 pandemic. The new initiative will deepen research and practical implementation, embedding advanced technologies like additive manufacturing, digital tools and sustainable materials into the operations of participating SMEs.
