🌺 Remembrance Sunday highlights

Last weekend our volunteers and cadets supported Remembrance events right across Northern Ireland. From parades to church services to local community gatherings, it was a privilege for our teams to play their part in honouring those who served and those who gave their lives.

Thank you to every volunteer who stood on duty, marched with their unit, supported local communities or helped behind the scenes. Your professionalism and care help make these events safe and meaningful for everyone who attends.

We are proud of all our units who took part and represented us so well. Check out some of the photos from our teams below- just a small snapshot of our deployment across NI.

💚 A special birthday shout-out for Howard, one of our brilliant youth leaders at Dufferin Cadet Unit.

Our charity is built on people like Howard... Most of the work our volunteers do happens long before they ever put on a jacket or stand at an event. It happens in classrooms, in training sessions, in late-night planning, and in the time they give to support young people and their communities.

We are so grateful for everything Howard brings to our organisation, and for the positive impact he, and the countless others like him, has on the cadets he works with.

Happy Birthday Howard!

🍦 It’s not all ice creams and events! 💚

Behind the scenes, every one of our units takes part in regular training to make sure we’re ready when you need us most.

This week our Lisburn Adults unit focused on trauma scenarios - developing practical first aid skills and teamwork through realistic exercises. A huge thank you to Diarmuid from the West Belfast unit for sharing his experience and expertise once again. 👏

💚 Lifesaving skills in action!

Our Lisburn Adult Unit spent this week practising CPR and resuscitation for infants, children and adults — building confidence and readiness to respond in a real emergency.

From the smallest baby to fully grown adults, every scenario helps our members stay prepared and equipped to make a difference when it matters most.

A huge well done to everyone involved for their commitment to learning and saving lives. 👏

📸 Thanks to our Lisburn Adults team for sharing!

Remembrance Sunday 2025

This morning Dufferin Cadets were incredibly proud to have over 50 St John Ambulance Cadets and Adults on parade at the Cenotaph in Ward Park for the Remembrance Sunday Service.

Our cadets represented the unit with dignity and respect as we paused to remember those who gave so much.

We were honoured that Katie read the Kohima Prayer, and that our Unit Manager, alongside Kirsten and Rhia, laid the wreath on behalf of the unit.

A particularly special moment came from Reuben, who proudly wore his grandfather’s St John Ambulance medals — a Service Medal with Bars recognising over 50 years of service, and the Order of St John Medal. A powerful reminder of the legacy of service carried through generations.

Our Unit President, Darren, was at the Remembrance Parade in London, and Oliver, one of our adult leaders, was at the Liverpool Remembrance Service at St George’s Hall, volunteering with the local St John unit while at university.

Thank you to all our cadets, leaders, families, and the wider community who joined us in remembrance today.

🌺 We will remember them.

Today we pause to honour and remember all those who have served and sacrificed for others.

Our St John Ambulance NI members have been proud to take part in local remembrance events across Northern Ireland, including the Festival of Remembrance in Belfast and the poppy display created by our Larne Youth Unit.

Thank you to everyone representing us so proudly this weekend and helping to keep the spirit of remembrance alive. 💚

💚 Collaboration in action!

Our Commercial Training and Youth Teams recently came together for a Mental Health First Aid for Leaders session at St John Ambulance Larne, designed specifically to support our amazing youth leaders across St John Ambulance NI.

It’s always great to see different parts of our organisation working side by side - combining expertise and shared purpose to make a real impact.

A massive thank you to everyone who organised the session behind the scenes, and to our brilliant trainer Martin for facilitating such an engaging and valuable day. 👏
