🚨 Northern Ireland can’t wait 🚨

Alongside partners across the community and voluntary sector, Start360 is supporting the campaign calling on the UK Government to urgently rethink the proposed Local Growth Fund allocation for Northern Ireland.

Frontline community services are already under immense pressure. Without fair and adequate funding, vital support for individuals, families and communities is at serious risk.

We’re backing an online public petition launched by Action Mental Health, which reflects the shared asks of the sector and helps build public and political pressure for immediate action.

International Day of Learning 🌍

On this International Day of Learning, we are highlighting the real difference that funded learning opportunities make for young people through our Youth Start programme at Start360, funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF).
Without this funding, many young people would lose access to accredited learning, structured support, and clear pathways into employment at a critical point in their lives. The impact would be fewer opportunities to build skills, reduced confidence and more barriers to positive progression.

Today, we recognise the importance and call for sustained investment in learning that delivers meaningful outcomes for young people and strengthens communities.

At yesterdays NICVA-led rally on the steps of Stormont, one message rang out loud and clear: our sector stands united in anger and disbelief at the UK Government’s decision to cut funding for frontline, community-based support services when UKSPF funding ends this March.

We are equally alarmed by the continued lack of clarity, action, or contingency planning from the Northern Ireland Executive to address the devastating impact these cuts will have.

NI Can’t Wait. For organisations like Start360, this decision threatens the future of vital services that support thousands of people across Northern Ireland every year — services that help individuals, families, and communities facing mental health challenges, substance use, and risk. A funding reduction of this scale puts skilled jobs at risk and leaves some of our most vulnerable people without the support they rely on.

We are calling on decision-makers to urgently reverse these cuts and protect the services our communities cannot afford to lose.

This nomination recognises the incredible impact of our AD:EPT service - a therapeutic support programme, supporting individuals in custody to address problematic substance use through harm reduction, counselling, casework and recovery focused support.

Already volunteering in Youth Work or want to get started?

Why not sign up to our OCN Level 2 Youth Work course? You will gain a valuable qualification that will help progress you in your career path as well as developing lots of skills and knowledge.

Our course will run end of January and into February, starting 26th, over three weeks from 10am to 3pm. It will run Mondays and Tuesdays.
