As part of our Futures programme, supporting individuals with their employability, we set ourselves a challenge. The team wanted to give back to others, and to do this, we spent time with the fantastic Show Some Love!

Show Some Love is a Belfast charity creating real change through creativity, compassion and community. Based in their city centre hub Green House, they collect and redistribute toiletries, underwear, clothes and essentials to people who need them most: no fuss, no barriers, just love.

Their work includes:
✨ The Free Store - a welcoming, shop-style space where everything is free.
✨ Love Packs - bespoke hygiene & essentials packs tailored with dignity and care.
✨ Reclaimed Fashion - upcycling textiles into unique pieces and saving tonnes of waste from landfill.
✨ A vibrant creative community - offering shared studios, events and space for artists, makers & activists.

Show Some Love blends activism, sustainability and creativity: proving that small actions, done with heart, can transform a city.

Our team were delighted to volunteer for the morning, working towards a shared goal. Collaboration like this is vital to ensuring organisations are able to create a real difference, together.

This was our first time visiting Show Some Love, and it certainly won't be our last.. so watch this space! 👇🤩

Today, the Support Hub partnership comes together to say a massive THANK YOU to National Lottery players and the Community Fund for helping make the support we provide possible.

Support Hub is all about creating a clear, compassionate pathway to recovery and reintegration: promoting mental and physical wellbeing, building community connections and offering people the chance to learn, grow and develop new skills.

Because of the Community Fund, people across our communities get access to a safe space, a supportive team, and opportunities that make real, lasting change💛

This week, our Directors Frankie and Melissa travelled to Edinburgh to officially begin an exciting new chapter for Start360: becoming the lead partner for Northern Ireland on the Synergy Project, bringing the Lundy Model of Child Participation to all devolved nations.

Developed by Professor Laura Lundy at QUB, the Lundy Model is a globally recognised framework for amplifying children and young people’s voices in decisions that shape their lives. We’re proud to step into this leadership role, alongside Youth Focus North West and partners across Scotland, England and Wales.

During the trip, Melissa and Frankie:
📌 Attended the Lundy Network Conference (with an incredible lineup of speakers)
📌 Delivered and took part in workshops
📌 Met with the Scottish Youth Parliament and YouthLink Scotland
📌 Connected with the extended Synergy steering group
📌 Enjoyed dinner and conversation with Professor Laura Lundy herself!

This work has huge potential to reshape participation practice across Northern Ireland. And this is only the beginning.

Edinburgh was step one. The journey starts now. ✨

As a Prevention / Intervention Practitioner, you’ll be delivering life skills and harm reduction programmes to young people (aged 11–21) across the Southern Trust area, working in schools, youth clubs and community spaces.

If you’re passionate about supporting young people where they are, and believe in building resilience, reducing risk, and promoting positive change - then this role is for you.

You’ll join a caring, creative team that values collaboration and puts real care into everything we do.

This week, our team spent the day at NICVA (Northern Ireland Council for Voluntary Action) taking part in Take Home Naloxone training, delivered by Buff and Nicola from Extern 👏

This training, supported by the Public Health Agency (PHA) is all about saving lives. Naloxone is a medication that can temporarily reverse the effects of an opioid overdose, giving vital time for emergency help to arrive.

Anyone can make a difference. With the right training, we can all be part of reducing harm and keeping people safe.

A huge thank you to Buff & Nicola for sharing their knowledge, and to PHA for supporting this life saving programme 💛

Start360 Monthly Recap | October 💫

We were proud to join our YouthStart partners at YouthActionNI for a powerful Lived Experience Event, hearing directly from the young people whose lives have been transformed through the programme. As proud supporters of the campaign led by NICVA, we were delighted to welcome Health Minister Mike Nesbitt MLA, whose presence reinforced the importance of investing in vital community services.

The Community Wellbeing Event at the Armagh City Hotel brought together more than 140 people for an evening of connection and learning. From mental health and substance use awareness to mocktails, relaxation workshops and guest speakers: it was a celebration of community, care and recovery.

October also brought moments of recognition and pride, with three national nominations across the board:

🏆 NI Veterans Awards: Tommie Linton, Start360 Practitioner
🏆 UK SMART Recovery Volunteer Awards: Trish Cathcart, Start360 Services Manager

Our All-Staff Training Day at the Balmoral Hotel brought our teams from across NI together, strengthening connections and celebrating shared purpose.

In the justice space, Services Manager Grainne Griffith represented Start360 at a female leadership panel with the SE Trust’s Healthcare in Prisons team: speaking on changing substance trends, supporting women in custody and shifting correctional culture.

Paddy and Eimear from our Support Hub were proud to attend alongside PCSP and PHA for an awareness event at the Stormont Hotel, promoting wellbeing and informed choices.

We also marked World Mental Health Day with ENGAGE Women’s Boxing, empowering our women to connect, move and build resilience through sport.

Finally, we took a moment to slow down and breathe in the fresh air at Hooked on Health in Ballintoy.

This month, we were extremely proud to be recognised as the only charity in Northern Ireland to achieve the Trusted Charity accreditation Level 2. This is a national standard for excellence in governance, leadership and impact.

This week, three incredible teams took on RACE360: an 80-mile cycling challenge.

From the open road to the Tower, BT colleagues went the distance to raise vital funds for Start360 - helping us continue to deliver life changing support for young people, adults and families across Northern Ireland.

Every mile cycled represents the journeys we walk alongside our clients every day - filled with determination, courage and hope.

A huge thank-you to the entire BT team for their energy, generosity and belief in what we do💜
