Social Media Policy

Children’s Heartbeat Trust (CHT) reserves the right to administer its social media pages in accordance with this social media policy.

1.1: Users agree not to participate in mischievous or malicious behaviour which causes damage or may cause damage to CHT or to any other individual or organisation.
1.2: Messages must not be obscene, vulgar, defamatory or libellous, sexually orientated, hateful, threatening or otherwise violate any laws or good morals and practice.
1.3: Messages containing contact details, phone numbers, fax numbers or postal addresses are not allowed and will be edited or removed by the Website Administrator
1.4: Messages must not contain advertisements or references to products or services. This includes fundraising or awareness events which CHT does not consider to benefit our charity.
1.5: Messages which appear to impersonate someone else are not permitted.
1.6: Users agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or by the charity.
1.7: Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact CHT immediately by e-mail at admin@childrensheartbeattrust.org.
1.8: Users acknowledge that CHT is not under any obligation to monitor or review discussions on social media sites (i.e. Facebook, Twitter) and you agree that you are entirely responsible for all content that you make available.
1.9: All messages posted on the CHT website and social media pages remain the property of CHT and we reserve the right to edit or remove posts without any prior contact with the author. The deletion of messages is at the discretion of the CHT Website Administrator. Warning
2.1: Social Media sites are often a public forum and we encourage users to be welcoming and supportive - but remember your posts can be seen by thousands of people every day. Content

🎁 Clark Bear Christmas Appeal 2025 🎁

❗️DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS – THURSDAY 27TH NOVEMBER 2025

We understand that Christmas can be an extremely stressful time for heart families who are struggling financially and we would like to help local heart families experiencing extreme financial distress this year.

Heart Families can find themselves under additional financial stress due to long-term hospital stays, unpaid leave from work, outpatient appointments and travelling for surgery, not to mention the additional fuel and parking costs on top of the usual family outgoings.

Although we would love to be able to support every heart family that applies, we can’t guarantee this will be the case due to limited funding and it is important that the funding goes to those families most in need.

Please keep this in mind when completing your application form and provide us with as much information as possible.

Santa's little helper has delivered the Christmas Post Box to the Children's Heart Centre🎅📬

It's ready for all our heart families to send their Christmas lists and wishes. The good news is that Santa will let you know if you are on the good list but only if you remember to add your full name and postal address to your letter.

Letter sets, stickers and pens are at reception for you all to use. 🥰

Santa's helpers will be collecting all the letters on Monday 8th of December so don't forget to post your letter at your next appointment ❤️🎄

Thank you to everyone who reacted to, commented on, and shared our post of Annie’s incredible story on World Kindness Day.🫶

We're asking you to keep that kindness going for little hearts like Annie’s, this Christmas.

Annie was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, meaning the left side of her heart hadn’t developed properly. She’s already undergone two open heart surgeries - one at just six days old and another before her first birthday and spent her first Christmas in hospital.

Thanks to your kindness, Children’s Heartbeat Trust was there to support Annie and her family through every step. Your generosity helps us continue to provide vital emotional and practical care for children and families living with congenital heart disease across Northern Ireland.

We were delighted to launch the very first event in our 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐒𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞 last Saturday at The Jungle! From treetop challenges to bouncing battles, our young siblings brought the energy from start to finish.

Our 𝐒𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞 is designed exclusively for children and young people aged P7–13 who have a brother or sister born with congenital heart disease. Its purpose is to offer understanding, acceptance, belonging, and identity - creating a safe space where siblings can connect with others who share similar experiences.

Through fun activity days like this one, along with smaller workshop-style sessions across NI, we aim to build a much-needed support network for young siblings and carers. Our goal is to reduce feelings of isolation and bring shared empathy and understanding of living as a heart family.

𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐊𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐲🫶 Please share.

This World Kindness Day, we’re celebrating the incredible impact of kindness through the story of Little Annie McIlrath, who features in our Christmas Appeal.

Born with a complex heart condition, Annie has already faced more challenges than most of us will in a lifetime. Through every surgery, hospital stay and moment of uncertainty, her family has been surrounded by kindness, from loved ones, her amazing medical teams, and the dedicated team at Children’s Heartbeat Trust.

Thanks to the generosity of supporters, we’ve been able to provide vital support to Annie and her family through their toughest times and many more families facing the journey of congenital heart disease.

𝐏𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐞’𝐬 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐞𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐚𝐬.❤

Each year in Northern Ireland, over 200 children are born with congenital heart disease. We ask this World Kindness Day to share Annie’s Story to spread awareness and hope for more children with heart disease this Christmas.
