Brain Tumour awareness month 🧠

Early recognition of symptoms such as persistent headaches, vison changes, seizures, or memory problems is vital. The earlier a cancer is picked up, the easier it is to treat it and the more likely the treatment is to be successful.

If something doesn’t feel right speak to your GP immediately.

The NI childhood immunisation schedule is changing giving even better protection with the introduction of the varicella (chickenpox) vaccine.

As with other childhood immunisations, parents will be contacted by their GP surgery to arrange an appointment if their child is eligible. If you are unsure if your child is up to date with vaccinations the easiest way to check is to look at your child’s red book or speak to your health visitor or GP.

"Frank the Baker" is 100 years old! 🎂🎉

Andersontown's own Frank Doherty is celebrating his BIG birthday this month! Born in 1926, Frank has outlived other famous names born that year including Queen Elizabeth, Ian Paisley & Fidel Castro, to name just a few! He received last rites (twice!) aged seven when he contracted Tuberculosis but thankfully he recovered & has now reached this remarkable milestone!

ABOUT FRANK:
Born in Cullingtree Road, Frank left school at 14 & worked at the Maypole Co-op on the Shankill Road. Later he moved to Beechmount & worked with his brothers at Kennedy's Bakery. During the worst of the troubles, Frank delivered bread daily to Ballymurphy, Moyard & Springhill. Here he became affectionately known as Frank "The Baker". He also spent 20 years working for the Electricity Service followed by his long & healthy retirement with his proud children & grandchildren!

Centenarian Frank comes to Doherty's Pharmacy for all his healthcare needs! All new customers very welcome 😉

RSV is a common and highly infectious respiratory virus that affects the breathing system, particularly in young children and older adults.

To help protect newborns and infants, pregnant women are being offered the vaccine from 28 weeks into their pregnancy. Adults aged from 75–79 years of age will also be offered the RSV vaccination.

If you’re eligible, getting vaccinated is the best and simplest thing you can do to protect yourself or your newborn baby from RSV.
