OT Week 2025: Right Support, Right Time - “Unlocking the Power of OT”
🌟
Self-care isn’t always simple. Everyday tasks like dressing, eating or toileting can be tricky for some children—and that’s okay!
👕👟🍽️👅
Challenges can come from differences in:
• Movement & coordination – like fastening buttons or tying shoelaces
• Body awareness – knowing where arms and legs are while dressing
• Sensory processing – sensitivities to textures, touch, or sounds
🪥🛀🚽
Paediatric Occupational Therapists can help by:
• Adapting routines or the environment
• Providing supportive tools and strategies
• Helping children feel confident and independent
With the right support, children can build skills at their own pace and feel proud of what they can do.

OT Week 2025: Right Support, Right Time - “Unlocking the Power of OT”
🌟
Handwriting can be tricky—but that’s okay! Writing letters and words involves lots of skills at once: posture, hand strength, finger control, eye-hand coordination, and memory.
📝
Some children might:
• Lean on the table or hold their wrist off the page
• Find their pencil grasp awkward or tiring
• Struggle with spacing, letter size, or copying from the board
✏️
Paediatric Occupational Therapists can help by:
• Identifying which skills need support
• Using fun activities to strengthen hands and coordination
• Suggesting helpful tools like pencil grips or writing slopes
• Offering strategies to make writing easier and less tiring
With the right support, handwriting can feel more comfortable, confident, and achievable for every child!

Fine motor skills are how kids use their fingers, hands, and wrists to explore, play, and do everyday activities. Early skills include grasping, pointing, pushing, pulling, and squeezing; movements that help build hand strength, coordination, and independence.

Paediatric Occupational Therapists can help children develop these skills and provide fun, practical activities and helpful strategies so every child can participate fully and confidently in play, learning, and daily life.

🌟Occupational Therapy Week - 3rd-9th Nov 2025 🌟

Gross motor skills are the big movements that help our children explore, play, and grow—like crawling, walking, climbing, and running! These movements use muscles in the arms, legs, back, and tummy, and they support confidence, independence, and participation in everyday activities.

Some children may move and learn differently. They might:
• Find sitting upright tricky during circle time
• Need extra support for balance or coordination
• Take longer to plan and organise their movements

Paediatric Occupational Therapists work with children to strengthen muscles, improve balance and coordination, and support motor planning. The goal is to help every child feel confident and independent while playing, learning, and enjoying sports!

📧 If you feel your child needs support in relation to gross motor skills drop us an email (info@insightclinic.co.uk) to see how we can help!

OT Week 2025 3rd-9th November:

🌟Right Support, Right Time - “Unlocking the Power of OT” 🌟

Paediatric Occupational Therapy is all about the right support at the right time, helping each child understand how they experience the world and reach their full potential in their own unique way. Through tailored strategies, play and a sensory-informed approach, OTs empower children to succeed, build confidence, and enjoy everyday activities.

Why it matters: Early and appropriate OT support can make a huge difference in a child’s learning, independence, and wellbeing. Every child deserves to feel capable, understood, and proud of who they are!

It’s World Occupational Therapy Day
And there’s no better day to introduce you to our new Occupational Therapist — Roisin.

Roisin is an Advanced Practitioner Occupational Therapist and Sensory Integration Practitioner specialising in Paediatrics.

Paediatric Occupational Therapists work with children and young people who experience motor, sensory, or cognitive differences, supporting them to maximise independence and confidence in the activities that matter most.

For children, these activities often centre around:
Self-Care – dressing, feeding, daily routines
School – attention, handwriting, organisation
Play and Leisure – social participation, motor skills, enjoyment

Occupational Therapy helps children build functional skills that support learning, social connection, and everyday life.

Keep an eye on our page over the next few weeks as we share more about what Occupational Therapy involves and how to know if your child could benefit from support.

Roisin will be available for appointments in our Comber clinic every Monday. For more information drop us an email on info@insightclinic.co.uk
