Welcome to the Sunday Self-Care Club.

What is self-care, anyway?

It's so much fun more than a buzzword, and for me it's all the things I know I should do but don't.

Self-care isn't just a once a week hair treatment and face mask. It's not that treat of a massage or spa day. Although these things are important.

Self-Care is making time for yourself and doing the things that help.

Today my self-care has involved
🥘 meal prep
☀️ a walk outside in the rare sunshine
🍈 eating some healthy foods (watermelon, yum!)
🧘‍♀️ yoga
🪮 hair treatment
👗 looked out clothes for the wee ahead

This yin yoga pose is perfect for releasing tension in the upper body as it stretches the fascia in between the shoulder blades.

What's the difference between a good yoga class and a great yoga class? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Well your mindset is the difference. 🧠

Arriving late, straight from a stressful day creates an unsettled mindset. This can turn the most amazing yoga class into a mediocre one - for you anyway!

But arriving ready to switch off, ready to breathe a little deeper and move a little slower is the ideal mindset for a great yoga class.

Try this next time you're heading to yoga after a busy day/week and notice how a mindset shift elevates your yoga class experience!

💡 check in with how you're feeling

Use the breath to change your mindset before heading into your yoga class. That will take a good class all the way to a great class!

Halloween isn't all about scares and dares and things that go bump in the night.
It's a time to honour the changing of the seasons. To slow down and embrace the darker, cooler and more yin season.

Try these Halloween inspired yin yoga poses to help ease you into the weekend.

🎃 each pose can be held between 3-5 minutes (except Witch's Hat pose, stick to 3-5 breaths!)
🎃 go easy, be kind to yourself and always work in a pain free range
🎃 embrace the discomfort and take your attention to the breath to find stillness

All about me ...

Gillian is a qualified Yoga teacher with over 15 years experience on the mat. Working as a Primary School teacher means Gillian possesses a natural talent for both encouraging and challenging her yoga students. Gillian knows first-hand the benefits that comes with regular practice – both physically and mentally. She practices what she preaches, investing time in meditation, yoga nidra, a variety of differing styles of yoga, and passing her knowledge on in a safe and comfortable environment. But have no fear, this is not a class of chanting and joss sticks. Gillian is on a mission to make yoga the norm, accessible for everyone. She believes that the benefits are not just for the bendy among us, but for all those who want to break the rules and rebuild themselves. The overriding element in her classes is that of acceptance. “Mindfulness” is a term bandied about mindlessly these days, but Gillian inspires the idea that taking the time to accept where your mind and your body is each day, rather than striving for the next best thing, is the healthier way to approach yoga, and life itself. All of her classes are interesting, challenging, nurturing, accepting and most of all fun. And what more could you possibly ask for?
