Mother’s Day Pamper

It was a thoroughly lovely morning made possible by the most beautiful and talented group of ladies who gave their time freely to pamper our ladies (and Clive)

Thank you to our staff members Ann on make up and Ella on hair.

Studio 7 Dance and Performance Arts School girls Ellie and Bella on nails & refreshments and Hermoine on make up, photography and editing

Emma on styling and photography.

Karen on refreshments, hair and everything in between.

Massive thanks to Tracey for all the props, outfits and accessories. Also, thank you for organising the volunteers from your dance school. The room looked amazing, as did all our residents - we appreciate you so much and we’re sorry you couldn’t join us today.

We’ve had a very special visitor today…..

Sabbath the Royal Python came into our home. He’s two years old and very well behaved.

The majority of our residents and staff were thrilled, with only a few refusing a visit and steering well clear.

Thank you Michaela and Vicky for organising this visit today, we really appreciate it.

This morning our preschool friends visited and we had lots of fun. Creating Mini Beasts with them using home made playdoh that smelt like cinnamon.

Some of us did rebel and we had a hedgehog and penguin amongst our mini beasts.

This was a great activity that got small groups working as a team to create their animals.

We had lots of fun as always, our little friends bring us so much joy.

Red and Pam Oliver popped in to help us with a special project this morning…….watch out for an announcement soon.

Pam has become a great friend to many at Holbrook Hall and is always willing to support us with projects and things outside of her visits.

We really appreciate all you do Pam, thank you so much.

It’s always an added bonus that Red is a permanent attachment when Pam visits.

Sweet Caroline is one of our favourite songs to hold hands and dance to as a group.

It’s such an upbeat song that leaves us all feeling happy.

Dancing as a group is exceptionally good for the elderly, offering a "triple-threat" of benefits—physical exercise, cognitive stimulation, and social engagement—that can significantly enhance quality of life. Research indicates that regular group dancing can help stave off the mental and physical ravages of aging, including reducing the risk of dementia by up to 76%.

Vicky couldn’t believe her eyes this afternoon when she turned around and saw Vera dancing (completely unaided and without any encouragement as you can see).

Vera isn’t the biggest lover of singers or dancing but she is always up for a laugh.

The second Wednesday of the month you’ll find us at our local Friendship Group.

Where we’re entertained by either a speaker or a singer, followed by cuppa and cake and finishing off with a quiz.

We always have a wonderful time and leave feeling part of our wonderful community.

They both really brighten our day, with conversation and cuddles.

Hunter knows who gives the most treats and where to head to on arrival.

Our residents really enjoy them both visiting their bedrooms. No one misses out.
