Our History, Ethos and Vision:
Hello, I'm Laurie, local Yoga teacher and Owner of Sage Yoga Studio in Belper. We opened our doors to our community in September 2018 with the vision of creating a friendly, non-intimidating and supportive environment for anyone wanting to explore the practice of authentic yoga. Our space has provided a haven of calm and safety for many students wanting to re-connect, breathe and grow as an individual and as part of a like-minded community. Nearly 4 years on and despite world events we have grown into a supportive group of teachers and practitioners. We work together with the aim of cultivating compassion, kindness and deeper connection to ourselves and each other with a view to creating positive ripples out into the local community and beyond. Bio:
My own journey into Yoga began with a class taken over 20 years ago. The teacher awakened a deep sense of curiosity and a longing to know more. I began to attend regular classes and dive deeper into my own journey of self discovery. I was introduced to a meditation teacher who would totally change the trajectory and purpose of my life through the imparting of their wisdom and transformative teachings. In September 2008 I began to take the first steps toward becoming a Yoga Teacher. Skip forwards 13 years and I have completed over 1000 hrs of teacher trainings including Trauma Informed Yoga for Embodiment and Social Impact, Advanced Yin Yoga Teacher Training, Yoga for Anxiety and Depression, Yoga Nidra for Mental Health plus Hyper-mobility on the mat. I have recently qualified as a 5 Element Qigong teacher and I am currently training in Applied Poly-vagal Theory for Therapeutic Yoga and very much looking forward to sharing these profound and life changing teachings this year. I am really excited to now be training in Chinese Medicine Food Therapy which will really compliment my Yoga and Qigong classes, Seasonal Workshops and Retreats. It will give me an extra set of skills and boost my passion for Chinese medicine and the Taoist principle of Food as Medicine. My teaching style incorporates a fusion of different traditions and philosophies, focusing on embodiment practices, Five Element Theory and the cycles of nature to bring us back to a place of wholeness and balance. I interweave knowledge of different traditions and modality trainings in yoga, qigong and mindfulness to offer a unique form of therapeutic, mindful somatic movement practice designed to empower an individual with accessible and sustainable skills and tools needed to embrace the journey back home towards autonomy and realising their own true potential. My passion is Yoga for Mental Health and creating an inclusive, non judgemental, safe space for for those looking to ease the stress and tensions of modern day living in the form of:

We are now entering the beginnings of Winter and you can feel the shift when out in nature.
My walk yesterday aided the acceptance of change being inevitable and necessary as I observed the natural cycles unfolding without resistance.

Nature shows us the way back home to harmony and balance when we embrace and embody the lessons.

It’s time to slow the pace, conserve energy and appreciate the inward, downward, yin quality of the season as it presents a beautiful opportunity to dive a little deeper into our own inner worlds and awaken the wisdom that waits for recognition in the stillness of the pause.

As the light diminishes outside, may we connect to the radiant and eternal light that resides within 🕯️

I didn't get any photos from our amazing and truly uplifting Kirtan from Kirtan Nottingham on Sunday afternoon as I was completely immersed in the experience but we had some beautiful feedback from those who attended the event and we can't wait to invite them back again soon.

We raised £123 through ticket sales which will go towards supporting Food For All Nottingham
Who provide cooked healthy meals in Nottingham city centre every Tuesday 5-6pm for people living through times of hardship including those experiencing food poverty and homelessness.

Our Story

Sage Yoga offers Yoga Classes for all ages and abilities at our brand new purpose designed yoga studio in the heart of Belper. With a focus on creating a friendly, non-intimidating and supportive environment for anyone who is wanting to practice yoga, providing a calm space to connect, breath and grow as an individual. With a range of yoga styles and courses available which are run by Laurie Lowe, a local yoga teacher and practitioner of over 20-years with a down to earth approach integrating seasonal yoga based on TCM theory while incorporating a fusion of styles to best suit the time of year from The Hatha, Yin and Zen tradititions.
