Deaf-initely Women is a group of deaf women who give each other emotional resilience to cope within their working and family lives. We provide opportunities for deaf women to gain confidence in trying new experiences. We are all ages from 16 - 80 and have varying degrees of deafness and communication needs.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU NEED TO CALL 999 BUT CAN’T TALK

When you call 999, an operator asks which service you require. If you remain silent and it’s an emergency, you’ll be asked to cough or make some other audible sound without speaking.
But what are you supposed to do if making any noise at all might alert an attacker to your presence and so you need to remain silent?

Simply press 55
This procedure is called Silent Solutions but very few people know it exists!

If you don’t cough or press 55 and are in danger or need help then your call will be ended.
It is hoped that by spreading awareness of the procedure, the emergency services will be able to act more efficiently and save lives.

Deaf-initely Women is a group of deaf and hard of hearing women who give each other emotional resilience to cope within their working and family lives. We provide opportunities for deaf and hard of hearing women to gain confidence in trying new experiences. We are all ages from 18 - 80 and have varying degrees of deafness and communication needs.
