Our resident singers, Debbie and Charlie, entertained everyone beautifully, and it was wonderful to see residents and relatives enjoying the celebrations together, followed by a lovely buffet. x

We were delighted to welcome Tickled Pink to Godden Lodge for a fantastic Christmas show 🎄✨

Residents were joined by their family and friends on our Cephas Community Unit to enjoy the performance, which was wonderfully interactive and full of festive fun. Other community units also joined in, making it a lovely shared experience for everyone.

There were plenty of smiles, laughter and festive cheer — a performance our residents really enjoyed 🧡

Our residents have been getting wonderfully creative during our Christmas arts and crafts sessions, making festive door wreaths, Christmas cards for their families, and colourful paper chains to decorate our Community Unit.

It’s been a lovely way to share creativity, festive spirit and togetherness as we prepare for Christmas. 💛🎨

Keeping everyone well this winter

As flu levels rise during the winter months, we’re taking sensible steps to help protect the people living and working in our care homes.

We’re also grateful for the small things families and visitors can do to help - like staying away if unwell, washing hands on arrival, and considering a flu vaccination.

Thank you for your continued kindness and support. If you have any questions, please speak with our care home team who will always be happy to help.

We were delighted to welcome The Beacon Church to Godden Lodge for a lovely Christmas service and hymn singing with our residents 🎄✨

Residents from across the home joined together to listen to the service and sing hymns, creating a calm and meaningful afternoon that was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. After the service, members of the church spent time chatting with residents and wishing everyone a very happy Christmas.

We’re also pleased to share that The Beacon Church will now be visiting us every month to hold a service — something our residents are very much looking forward to 🧡

Last Saturday, we hosted a lovely indoor Christmas Market on one of our units, giving residents the chance to enjoy a proper shopping experience without needing to travel.

For many of our residents, going out shopping isn’t always possible, so it was wonderful to see them browsing stalls, choosing cards, gifts and clothes for themselves and their loved ones — all in the comfort of the home.

A huge thank you to Stibbards Funeral Home for kindly donating a beautiful fresh Christmas tree, and to our relatives and local community who supported the day with stalls and a raffle. The generosity shown was outstanding, as always.

Residents had a truly special time, and we’ve already raised £400 and counting! Several residents shared how meaningful it was to be able to buy Christmas gifts for their families.

A magical day filled with kindness, community and festive cheer. 💛🎄

We had great fun celebrating Christmas Jumper Day in support of Save the Children!
Residents and staff proudly wore their festive knits, shared plenty of smiles, and helped raise money for a wonderful cause.

Modern care puts a strong focus on social connection and friendship, and we’re proud to create opportunities every day for our residents to build meaningful relationships. Whether through shared activities, meals, laughter, or simple moments of companionship, these friendships play a huge part in maintaining a high quality of life.

Our residents came together in arts and crafts sessions to create beautiful poppies, including hand-crocheted ones that now decorate our front gate. These heartfelt tributes are a wonderful way to remember and reflect.

This beautiful painting was created by Frank, one of our talented residents, for his daughter. She kindly allowed us to display it on our wall in tribute to Remembrance Day.
Frank is our resident artist and a passionate hobby painter, with many stunning landscapes adorning Godden Lodge.
We’re proud to celebrate his creativity and the meaningful stories behind his art.
