We had a great time discussing all topics around running races last week. and provided us with plenty of hard won insight, inspiration and experience. It reminded me that however fast you can run, the challenges and experiences are very similar for us all! Thanks to our brilliant panel and look out for more talks on different topics in the future.

Beware the hidden reach!

If you are looking for a new bike, make sure to account for the recent increases in shifter length when working out what size and stem length to go for. Bike frames have not got much shorter- but shifters have definitely got longer!

Cyclists, if your insoles look like this then there is something that needs addressing!

Ideally your feet will sit comfortably in your shoe with relaxed toes and feeling even contact between all of your metatarsal heads and the pedal.

Depending on what we find, a combination of custom footbeds, leg length shims or forefoot/ rear foot wedges may be required to help the rider achieve this feeling - oh and shoes that are a sensible shape for your foot!

In some cases, the issue stems from ‘off the bike’ too- this client had a history of a serious traumatic injury which definitely contributed.

We evolved to walk and run- not to pedal so the bike presents us with some interesting challenges when it comes to our feet!
