Feet 👣 they come in all shapes and sizes, although most people don't like them, they are important, we need them to walk to help good mobility, so we should take care of their health even if we really don't like them

Many health conditions can and do have a direct impact on the foot - so why is this? Well..... if you have poor circulation or complex medical issues, then this can affect your extremities (feet) amongst other things and as such you are more likely to have much slower healing and increased risk of infections. So wounds and skin conditions might become a problem and can lead to other more serious issues if left untreated or mis-diagnosed

Having a foot health check at least annually if you are of more senior age is also a good idea, but everyone should take care of their feet, regardless of age

Of course, you don't need to have medical problems or even be diabetic to see a podiatrist, although I'm a foot specialist, really I mostly do lots of simple but thorough and safe routine foot treatments for lots of people, and I do this with the benefit of enhanced training and knowledge

However, if you are also diabetic this can increase the risk of developing problems, your 'risk' is based on a number of factors which I can assess and determine.

Some statistics:

It is estimated that around 5.8 million people in the UK are living with diabetes (www.diabetes.org) of this 4.6 million have been diagnosed with 1.3 million still undiagnosed. This is an all time high and growing year on year.

I have had some time working in the NHS podiatry service, so I have seen the difficulties and the NHS is stretched. Unfortunately I have been made aware of some recent reductions in their podiatry services leaving many people considered as being less at risk, but still needing care without an alternative. The NHS has a list of HCPC podiatrists/chiropodists who are fully trained which is recommended.
To search google "podiatrists near me" or go to the the NHS website * (see below) I am on this list.

At footpairfect podiatry I offer a private, affordable, reliable and comprehensive foot care service for all, not just for those with complex health issues who have complex feet too.

❗️So....If you have recently been discharged from the NHS podiatry service, I am based in South Street, Leven near Beverley. I'm easy to find and parking is free and nearby, plus you don't have to wait weeks to get an appointment.

✅️ I offer affordable foot care that is safe and can pick up potential problems in anyone I see before they become big problems

✅ ️I can perform an annual or earlier depending on 'risk' diabetic neurovascular foot assessments including additional assessments if deemed necessary. I can also refer directly to your GP for various treatments or other referrals and for those with diabetes can refer into the high risk foot team if required

✅️ I also have over 20 years experience in all manners of foot related conditions

✅️ If you are looking at finding someone to take care of your feet, or if you are concerned, give me a call on 07540071016

* Reminder *

Missing or cancelling last minute

If you forget your appointment or cancel at the last minute, it's ok, I do understand things go wrong, however you may have to wait for another appointment and unfortunately you may now be asked to pay unless you have a very good reason and I am always understanding.

One missed appointment is acceptable and I don't charge, but repeated missed appointments will now have to be chargeable.

The fact is, all missed appointments cost me money, and my business due to being medical based has significant fixed overheads and also large variable running costs. A fairly large % of every fee pays for the running of my clinic.

Many other businesses similar to mine that have similar issues have now been forced to implement a pre-pay system. I may have to follow suit.... 😥 I don't want to as this makes more work for me and I feel this is also unfair to the large majority of lovely people who do care about me, and also do offer or pay me when requested.

Thank you

Sarah

My Story

My journey to become a Podiatrist began in 2004. I was out of work, following a bad accident that forced me to change my career path of over 25 years of working with horses. I ended up being offered a job, in very unusual circumstances, I often still think this was “meant to be” in a local chiropody practice in Driffield. My role was that of secretary/receptionist/cleaner and all other manner of tasks, including being responsible for cleaning and sterilising all the chiropody equipment. I became interested in what my boss was doing, and she invited me to observe her treating some of the patients who were willing to let me watch. As a small child a really bad experience with a chiropodist when I had a verruca, had really put me off. However, I began to realise it wasn’t the awful profession I had made my mind up it was. So one day when she asked me what I thought to what she was doing, I answered, it wasn’t what I had expected it to be at all. Then she casually suggested I might think about training so I could work alongside her. I didn’t need to think about this for long. I was hooked. This led to me enroling on the Foot Health Professional course with the SMAE Institute.

I qualified in 2005 and began my journey working both part time in this practice, still fulfiling the role of receptionist. As my work increased I gave up the role of receptionist to focus on treating patients. I quickly gained a lot of hands on experience and my skills and k owledge grew working alongside the chiropodist.

In 2013 I decided that I needed to upskill further. This led to me calling the Huddersfield University, where I was accepted onto the Podiatric Medicine degree course. This meant four years of study part time around family committments and my current job working in the Chiropody practice. It was going to be hard work, but hopefully worthwhile. The degree course opened my eyes and gave me so much more than I ever expected to learn.

In 2017 I finally graduated, gaining a Batchelor of Science Honours degree with first class honours in podiatry. I was an actual Podiatrist at last!
