Community Call - Please share and follow this page!

You may be aware that Maypole Hill has been put up for sale, we are a small group of locals who want to raise funds to buy the Maypole, then establish a charity and hold it in trust for the people of Bewdley, keeping this fantastic piece of nature in the heart of our community forever, with no chance of anyone building on it.

We have been in touch with the landowner and expected a bit more time before it went to market, however, here we are.

There are few lots for sale but the lot containing the Maypole Piece (Lot 1 in the link below) is £300,000; stamp duty land tax will be an additional £4,500 and there will be legal fees.

This sounds a lot but it is achievable, if 1000 people gave £350, or 3,500 people gave £100 we could do this.

In fact any donations would get us close to the target.

We will be looking to crowdfund this, but we need to meet as a committee to plan this, doing it this way means that if we are unsuccessful funds are returned to any donors and donations are protected.

We are also working out some basic logistics, but trust us we will be working flat out to ensure we have the best chance to secure this important piece of land.

All updates will be shared through this page so please share it as much as you can - the more people supporting this, the better chance we have.

We understand that there is a lot of local passion for the Maypole, that many believe it should have been left to the people of Bewdley, however we have looked into this and the easiest and most effective way of securing the land is to buy it and make it into a Charitable Trust.

We ask, whilst we get things sorted, that all queries, offers of help and other comments are sent to our email:

friendsofthemaypole@gmail.com

We simply don’t have the number of people at this stage to respond on Facebook to what we imagine is going to be a very hot topic, but we can dedicate time to answering emails.

Thank you for reading and let’s get the Maypole to where it should be, the heart of the community.

Wow what a busy weekend here in the Apothecary.
First up nettle seed harvesting, these are amazing at supporting the natural adrenal function at times of exhaustion and stress. She’s also a great anti-inflammatory. These seeds are going to be dried, half stored for use throughout the year, the other half is going to infuse some oil.
Next up, making a fresh batch of warming muscle balm. Cayenne and turmeric infused oils are the stars in this one, providing warmth and anti-inflammatory properties to support tired, achey, overworked muscles.
Lemon & Lavender Spritz was next to be bottled. Infused witch hazel with lemon and lavender, spritz this to cleanse and uplift.
Bottling up my Hair Support Oil, a blend of Butterfly Pea, Yarrow, Horsetail and Rosemary infused oil to help support all things hair related.
Lastly Honeysuckle tincture needed to be bottled. Preparing for the winter months, Honeysuckle is going to support with symptoms of colds and flus, relaxing bronchi and bronchioles she’s going to assist with asthma, croup or bronchitis. She’s also antiviral, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory as well as cooling so she’s going to support as a part strategy for easing fever, menopausal hot flushes or any other over heated conditions.
Overall a very successful apothecary day, plus there was also Mugwort, Mullein and Pine needle harvested all set up for drying to be used in preparations throughout the year.

Wonderful little snack on my walk this afternoon. Jack of the Hedge or Garlic-Mustard. The flowering tops have a pea like taste to them and the leaves, as the name suggests, are garlicky mustardy lol, only use the young ones as the bigger the leaves get they can become bitter.
Jack can be eaten raw as I do on a walk or shredded in a salad or fried up with some butter and mushrooms.

Hey folks sorry I’ve been inactive on here for so long I’ve been really busy with my holistic therapy business. However I have been busy with herbal medicine in between with lots to bottle and get ready. California Poppy tincture, lavender and lemon spritz, and cayenne and turmeric muscle rub (pictured, look at the stunning colour… red from the cayenne and the beautiful golden yellow from the turmeric).
