"On Friday I tested a friend's sofa to measure my progress. A couple of years ago it took me several attempts and a lot of struggling to get out of it. This week, one go, with a little help from the sofa arm. Excellent!"

Our exercises are carefully designed by experts to help improve mobility whilst carrying out day to day exercises. For example our 'sit to stand' exercise will work all of the muscles and joints needed for getting in and out of bed, off the sofa and even more important for independence - on and off the toilet. Keep those joints mobiles and yourself fit and able around the home.

Classes restart tomorrow at 9.30am at The Pelham, all equipment provided. Just wear comfortable shoes. £5 per session.

IT'S BREATHE EASY WEEK!

Through exercise you can train your body so that more oxygen is delivered to your muscles.
Unfortunately, many people with long-term lung problems are afraid to exercise. This is partly because they are worried that being breathless may be harming them. This isn't true. By gradually building up the exercise you take, you can help to improve your breathing and feel better!

Move it or Lose it Bexhill - Fridays 9.30am at The Pelham. To book a space please send an inbox message or comment below and I shall contact you.

Benefits of exercising for diabetes

There are many benefits of being active when you have diabetes. Moving more can:

help the body use insulin better by increasing insulin sensitivity help you look after your blood pressure, because high blood pressure means you’re more at risk of diabetes complications help to improve cholesterol (blood fats) to help protect against problems like heart disease help you lose weight if you need to, and keep the weight off after you’ve lost it give you energy and help you sleep help your joints and flexibility help your mind as well as your body - exercise releases endorphins, which you could think of as happy hormones. Being active is proven to reduce stress levels and improve low mood. help people with type 2 diabetes improve their HbA1c. In some cases, this can help people with the condition go into remission.

It’s important to remember that being active is even more beneficial if you’re also making healthier food choices, not smoking and getting enough sleep.

I know that sometimes you may feel anxious about how exercise will effect your diabetes that's why starting out with a gentle class is always the best option, there is always room for progression.

Move it or Lose it classes are coming to Bexhill. Our first session is on the 10th June at The Pelham in Bexhill.

Amazing venue, a cafe for a quick cuppa and natter after if you feel like it and a car park. There is also a lift should you need, for wheelchairs, mobility scooters etc and we will be on hand to help with entry and exit to the room.

Classes are specifically designed with Chief Medical Officers to be suitable for over 50's or anyone with a health condition that can't quite manage an ordinary fitness class. Super EXCITED to be launching the programme here in Bexhill.....all being well with government restrictions of course. This course is just essential to all older adults (aged 50 plus). We work together to improve flexibility, aerobic fitness, balance and strength (FABS) to help older adults stay fit, active and independent. Giving them a regular date in their social calendar and also a warm cuppa and a natter for after 😀

Each participant shall be screened at the first session to see how best to do the class - standing, seated or standing supported. We want to ensure that your workout is as safe and effective for each individual.....whilst also being a lot of fun! 🥰
