If you’re getting your mobility scooter out after storing it for the past few months you may find some issues. Please DO NOT spray oil into the drivetrain, especially the motor brake. The motor brake is the bit with the lever you move to put it in freewheel. Also avoid the throttle, the it you push/pull to make it move. We had a call today from someone who said they’d sprayed WD40 into the brake because it had seized up. I’m sure you can figure out oil on brakes isn’t good. Please contact us for advice BEFORE doing anything like maintenance unless you’re confident in what you’re doing.

Sad to see another mobility company close after 10 years. Weekly we get calls and visits from people that have purchased products from online only retailers and had a negative experience. I even contacted an online only retailer to ask for parts to repair their product, not even a reply. They’re one of the biggest online sellers about and they obviously don’t care once it sold. I have said in the past we will not work on products from manufacturers we don’t have accounts with, this has reinforced my decision to do that. I only did it this time as it was an insurance claim. Buy cheap, buy twice. There are some good online sellers but do your research. At the bottom of the picture is a nice review received today.

You should only use good quality battery chargers, cheap unregulated ones often sold online can reduce the life of your batteries and cause other problems. We are the cheapest in the area for Strident Battery chargers. 8 Amp £89.90. 5 Amp £49.99, 2 Amp £32 (in store, website will differ). We recommend a new charger when the batteries are replaced, we give a £10 discount on the charger when purchased with new batteries.

♿ Help Improve Accessibility to the South Coast's Beaches 🏖️

A University of Brighton Master's student is looking for participants who are wheelchair users to share their experiences of visiting the South Coast of England's Beaches.

Sharing your lived experience could help improve accessiblity to the beach - something that is sorely needed.

To take part, you must:
- Be age 18 or over.
- Be a full-time or ambulatory wheelchair user.
- Live on the South Coast of England within 50 miles of a beach.
- Have the cognative ability to take part in an interview.

Taking part would include:
- Participating in a 1 hour interview (either video or audio-only) with the researcher.
- Talking about what the beach means to you and what helps or makes it more difficult to take part in beach activities.

There is no payment available for taking part. Interviews can be arranged at a time convenient to you.

Please be careful around standing water, due to the persistent precipitation there’s lots of large puddles around. If water gets into the controller (ECU), motor or brake it can cause extensive costly damage.

It’s new things day. I’ve just ordered a new (to me) van, only 22k miles on it, pick up next week 🥰 new fire extinguishers for the recliner shop. Fire alarm system serviced. I think it’s so important to have these life saving tools at hand and working properly. Brandon is having the white transit I (Mark) normally drives, it’s got more space and it will make his life much easier. Please note the Fire Extinguisher picture is 🤖 generated.

Weekly update so you don’t forget we are here 😉. Strange week, January was our busiest ever and now it’s not so busy. That said 2 New Scooters sold and a Pennan Riser Recliner. The Bexhill shop is undergoing a facelift, it’s looking much nicer now with more to do.
The customer that purchased the chair had been to a large national chain, she was amazed at our low prices compared to theirs and our aftercare is so much better. Brandon is going to have the bigger van, it’s going to make his life so much easier. Another nice review left this week. It will stop raining one day, it’s got to 😂. Try to keep any powered mobility aid as dry as you can, avoid standing water.
