Good morning all. Did you know that Mental Health Awareness Week starts today and this year it’s all about connecting with nature.

For me being outdoors is so important to my self care and my mental health whether it’s walking the dog on my own or meeting with friends and there is the occasional jog these days. Wherever you are this week will you be able to make time to connect and explore the nature around you?

I’m so aware that this is happening for some people. Maybe a years worth of held in emotions, stresses and fears may be beginning to leak out. Maybe there are some unexplained body pains and aches. Take care people.

Teachers make sure you plan some good days off over the Easter holidays and medics- please take care of yourselves.

Let’s be intentional in raising children and teenagers that can tolerate difficult feelings. Society will be very different when we invest our time to change stereo types. We urgently need change.

I am gutted by what Gavin Williamson- the UK Education minister, has said about schools.

I am devastated to hear about his plans for ‘catch up’ and his plan for learning to be ‘traditional’ and the culture to be one of discipline, punishment and challenge. This is going back 10 years.

We need to recognise that when a child feels known and cared for they can be curious. When they are curious they learn fast. When they feel unsafe and frightened they cannot learn. This is a neurobiological reaction to our environment and how we function on an automatic level.

We have to focus on building caring, nurturing, relational classrooms which are safe and helping those who have been significantly traumatised have their emotional needs addressed first.

Take a moment to think on how you like to express yourself through creativity after all the way we express ourselves is also important and also sets an example to the children in our lives... 💕

Did you know that this week is Children’s Mental Health Week 2021 and the theme this year is Express Yourself. Expressing yourself is about finding ways to support children to share feelings, thoughts, or ideas, through creativity. This could be through art, music, writing and poetry, dance and drama, photography and film, and doing activities that make you feel good... there are lots of resources available online this week . I hope to share some of those with you as the week progresses...

I’m a great believer that our clients come into our lives for a reason. One such girl that has done this is the inspiration behind my Therapeutic Rainbow. Her family have endured so much and I wish I could do more to give them the support they deserve. However, once again this girl has inspired me and has made me these ‘Pixie Pockets’ for other children. These are designed to fit into a child’s pocket as a sensory transitional object. To help those anxious children that struggle to separate, they are also filled with lavender to help children feel calm; together, we believe, these could help children / teenagers so much to cope within the current climate. They can be custom made for your child, so please contact me for more information
