Queue the crack..
One of my favourite things to do! HVTs are perfectly safe and are very effective for relieving pain.
Our spine is essentially domino blocks, stacked upon each other. Each vertebra is connected together with facet joints. These joints over time, can become restricted and loose individual range of motion. Therefore, the one above or below will compensate, causing that to become restricted and so on..
This can happen due to poor posture (like slumping), excessive loading on the spine from overuse or continuous heavy lifting, wear and tear, even rheumatoid diseases and so on. This will ultimately cause pain due to inflammation building up.
Muscle strain, spasm or tightness occurs due to the reduction in the range of motion of the joint. As muscles move joints, they will become affected as their own flexibility is reduced due to the spinal restriction, thus causing pain.
HVTs are a quick way of restoring the range of motion back into the joint. Osteopaths use specific techniques to target an individual vertebral segment. They can help correct chronic postural changes, acute pain, relieve tension headaches, reduce loading & compression of other areas of the spine and release tension in the musculature.
Working on the spine by using HVTs and articulation, along with soft tissue massage, PNF stretching and METs can collectively correct your body as a whole.
Fancy a go?
