You wait all winter for this…
The sun’s out ☀️
The course is calling ⛳
…and 2 rounds in, your body’s already complaining 😅
Sound familiar?
Every year we see the same thing when golf season starts 👇
The most common golf injuries:
➡ Mid-back pain (from all that rotation in your swing)
➡ Shoulder issues (especially rotator cuff overload)
➡ Golfer’s elbow (yep… it’s very real)
➡ Hip & knee pain from repetitive strain
➡ Even ankle/knee sprains from uneven ground
And here’s the problem…
Most of it isn’t bad luck ❌
It’s doing too much, too soon after a quiet winter.
Your body just isn’t ready yet.
Quick tips to stay on the course:
✔ Ease into your rounds (don’t go from 0 → 18 holes x3/week)
✔ Warm up properly (not just a few practice swings)
✔ Keep your body moving between rounds
Because nothing’s worse than finally getting good weather…
…and being stuck watching from the clubhouse 🍻
Comment “GOLF” and I’ll send you a quick warm-up routine you can use before your next round.
If something’s already niggling, get it sorted early and keep your season on track 👌

💪 Common Shoulder Problems We See in Clinic
Shoulder pain is a very common issue we treat and can affect everyday activities like reaching, dressing, or sleeping comfortably.
Two conditions we often see are Rotator Cuff Issues and Frozen Shoulder.
Rotator Cuff Issues affect the muscles that support and control your shoulder. You might notice:
• Pain when lifting or lowering your arm
• Weakness in the shoulder
• Difficulty with everyday tasks like getting dressed or reaching into cupboards
Frozen Shoulder usually causes stiffness and pain that gradually worsens over time.
You may notice:
• Difficulty lifting your arm
• Stiffness in all directions
• Pain, especially at night
The good news is that most shoulder problems improve with the right rehab. Treatment usually focuses on:
✔️ Building strength around the shoulder
✔️ Improving movement and control
✔️ Gradually restoring movement
If shoulder pain or stiffness is affecting your daily life, getting it checked early can make a big difference.
📩 Feel free to get in touch if you’re struggling with shoulder pain

Whether it’s a sore neck from sitting too long 💻 or recovering after surgery 🦵, you can book directly with us and start your recovery journey sooner.

Early intervention = faster healing. Don’t wait to feel better! And certainly don't wait for the doctors if you don't have too!

🦵 Common Knee Problems We See in Clinic

Knee pain is one of the most common issues we treat, especially in people who run, train, or have recently increased their activity.

Two conditions we often see are Patellofemoral Pain (Runner’s Knee) and Patellar Tendon Pain (Jumper’s Knee).

Runner’s Knee usually causes pain around or behind the kneecap. You might notice it when:
• Going up or down stairs
• Squatting or lunging
• Sitting for long periods with bent knees

Jumper’s Knee causes pain just below the kneecap and is common in running, jumping, or gym-based activities.

The good news is that most knee pain improves with the right rehab. Treatment usually focuses on:
✔️ Building strength around the knee and hips
✔️ Improving movement and control
✔️ Gradually returning to activity

If knee pain is stopping you from training or doing daily activities, getting it checked early can make a big difference.

📩 Feel free to get in touch if you’re struggling with knee pain

🧠💪 Why an Assessment Before Physiotherapy Matters!
Before jumping into treatment, a proper physiotherapy assessment is essential. Here's why:

✅ Identifies the root cause – Pain is often a symptom, not the problem. A thorough assessment helps pinpoint what’s really going on.

✅ Creates a tailored plan – No two bodies are the same. A custom approach ensures safer, faster recovery.

✅ Prevents further injury – Jumping into therapy without a clear picture can do more harm than good.

✅ Tracks progress accurately – Knowing your baseline helps measure how far you’ve come.

Whether you're dealing with an injury or chronic pain, your recovery starts with a deep understanding of you. Don't skip the first (and most important!) step. 🙌

As part of Durham’s She Thrives programme, Clare is hosting two, free taster sessions for women, one of which is centred around people living with Parkinson’s and Dementia or other long term conditions.

Some of the many benefits of table tennis include:

And if you know of anyone who would benefit from the tasters, let them know and drop Clare a message 🙌🏻

Injured? Stiff? “I’ll just rest and see how it goes”? 👀
Yeah… we’ve heard that one before.

Good physio means guided movement, not avoiding it.
We help you move safely, get strong, and get back to doing what you love without fear.

Let’s start the week strong 💪🏻 and get you moving again 💥
