Congratulations to Neve Doods who took bronze at the Riga European Hopes Cup. The first British girl to ever medal at one of these events 🇬🇧💪🏼

The first picture is a girl, full of determination and the second picture is a smile of success after years of hard work have paid off.

To get to this level which has enabled Neve to compete against the best of the best in Europe, Neve trains 5 - 6 times a week which also includes strength & conditioning which is tailored to judo and injury prevention.

In the early days of Neve’s judo journey, Neve noticed that she didn’t feel as strong as some of the other girls she competed against.

In 2022, Tees Valley Judo formed a partnership with Teesside Centre Of Health and Performance (TCHP) to provide specialist S&C. Neve has attended weekly S&C sessions at TCHP, with her brother Callum and friend Evelyn for three years, it has been brilliant to see them develop as athletes and as people.

Welcome to our newest staff member Danny Matthews!

I’m Danny, a Chartered Physiotherapist and Strength & Conditioning Coach, working in the industry for 7 years, predominantly within the Army Reserve.

Personally, I have been lucky enough to pass the selection process for the 4th Battalion The Parachute Regiment and to represent Great Britain in Dragon Boat Racing at the 14th International Dragon Boat Racing Championship in Thailand. After this time, I worked as part of the rehabilitation team for the athletes. My current role within the Army Reserve involves ensuring recruits are ready to attempt Reserve Pegasus Company and managing any injuries that occur throughout their training. Prior to this, I was part of the Sandhurst group, preparing prospective officers for the physical demands of officer training. At the Teesside Centre of Health and Performance, I supervise the Strength and Conditioning pathway for our partner clubs in rowing and netball.

Academically, I have achieved a BSc in Sports Science and Outdoor Activities, and more recently an MSc in Physiotherapy. I am currently enrolled on a UKSCA accreditation programme. My interests include developing individuals to become robust and fit enough to achieve their ambitions within public services and the outdoor industry.

If you’d like anymore information about Danny, or would like to book an appointment with him, please contact TCHP via our social media pages or our website.
