Young wheelchair user looking for Halloween fun? We're gearing up for next Sunday's Can-Do Club over at Billingshurst Leisure Centre with two two-hour sessions, one starting at 11am and the other at 2pm.

Can-Do Sports and Drama Club sessions have been specifically developed for young wheelchair users with neurological motor impairment aged between 8yrs - 25yrs. And of course they’re great fun!

It's nearly Halloween, so lots of fun and games for members, and free cakes, coffee, and treats for parents/carers in the Can-Do Café! And... there's lunch for members and parents/carers who book for both sessions.

If you're a new member (membership is free) please select the session and complete the online form as fast as possible in the next couple of days, so we can chat to you and get to know you before the session to make sure you get the best from it. The 11am session is a little quieter, and is a good one to start with. https://can-do-club.com/event/last-sunday-in-oct-11am-session-23/register

*Can-Do Sports and Drama Club is independently run by qualified experienced professionals from Specialist Schools and the NHS, who work daily with young people with additional needs. We don't use any volunteers (unless you count our café barista and chief cake-server Michael!).

Powerful, wise, and thoughtful words for all of us, from a Treloar's College student. ❤️

On this Mental Health Awareness Day we would like to share with you a poem written by Treloar College student Delali:

You don't have to hide
you don't have to hide
and keep it all inside
the pain isn't all yours to bear alone
the friend you need will be there
This world is sometimes cruel
but they will be with you whatever the weather
You don't need to even say a word
there will be a secret code as there is between friends and the chance to talk whenever you need to
so just know you are loved even when you don't feel loved
and there is joy in the little things
and your friends will help you along the way
so you don't have to hide your struggles
and it doesn't need to be a puzzle

Wow - what a day Sunday was! We put on a second session in the morning to cope with demand, and already it's three-quarters full with lots of new members from all over the South East.
To celebrate the new 11am session we had croissants, pastries, and fancy coffees for the parents, carers and families, who spent two hours scoffing and chatting while all the members were giving 1000% in the hall engaging in drama, playing the Jaws game fighting to get to the 'safe island', and a basketball game which was FAR harder and closer fought than the 7-0 score suggests. But with Ted, Thomas, Immy, Emily and Ellis on the rampage with extreme teamwork skills there was no stopping them.
Then in the 2pm session, after some appalling cheating during musical chairs (you know who you are - all four of you) we celebrated the 21st birthday of a member by calling in the parents and carers into the hall 10mins before the end for a competitive team game where they were hobbled together in a three-legged routing while blowing party horns, and were soundly beaten by members in chairs.
Big shout out to the members who wanted to come to BOTH sessions and have lunch with us, and to Ben who said he wanted to stay for a THIRD session.
Let's do it all again on the last Sunday of October; book early at https://can-do-club.com/event - membership is free, and open to any young wheelchair user with neurological motor impairment aged between 8yrs - 25yrs.
And thank you all again to the members who brought their absolute 'A-Game' without exception, and to the parents/carers/family members who make it all happen and cheer us all on ❤️

Click the 'Register' button once you've selected the first session, and create a new account with your contact details - then you can book and pay.
