Also trained in CBTi (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia) by Dr David Lee (sleepunlimited.co.uk) — the NICE-recommended approach for treating sleep disorders.

Just like you I used to wonder… is this normal?

Would anyone else think this was just “how they are”?

👉 Replaying conversations over and over in my head -only later realising this was my brain analysing, trying to protect me and prevent future discomfort.

👉 Picking up my phone for absolutely no reason - using it as a distraction, a tiny reward for the discomfort I was feeling. (I know you’ve done this too.)

👉 Not being calm in silence -
needing background noise like the radio or TV because silence amplifies thoughts, and distraction feels safer.

👉 Jumping out of my skin when someone comes up behind me -
my nervous system primed for danger even when everything is calm. (This still happens when I’m out walking the dogs.)

👉 Over-explaining to keep the peace - a fawn response, trying to stay safe by being “easy” and agreeable.

👉 Feeling anxious and tense in busy public spaces - scanning for exits, feeling overwhelmed, needing to escape. (This one really resonates with me.)

👉 Cleaning or organising when I felt unsettled - I used to have to have the dishwasher empty, the floors clean, the house spotless before bed or taking the children to school.
Taking control helped soothe the lost sense of safety. (Thankfully, this is now a thing of the past.)

👉 Avoiding messages and people -
as an introvert, social energy and unpredictability can feel draining when my system is overloaded.

👉 Not feeling hungry… or feeling wired but exhausted - when the brain is in survival mode, it disconnects you from basic needs, conserves energy, and stores fat.

👉 Struggling to rest without guilt - being still once felt unsafe. (This has taken conscious, compassionate work.)

None of this meant I was broken.
It meant my nervous system was doing its job - just a little too well.

As we step into 2026, the Year of the Horse, I find myself reflecting on how deeply horses have shaped my life - both personally and professionally.

Over the years, horses have been my teachers. They have shown me strength without force, sensitivity without fragility, and the quiet power of moving forward even after setbacks. They have been with me through times of joy and times of real challenge, including a period when I had to rebuild - physically and emotionally - after a serious fall from my horse, relearning how to walk again.

That experience taught me something lasting: that progress doesn’t come from pushing harder, but from listening, adjusting, and trusting the process of healing. Horses don’t rush recovery. They move when they’re ready, with awareness and respect for what their bodies and minds need. I learned to do the same.

The images I’m sharing are of horses who have taught me these lessons over the years. Each one carries a story of resilience, wisdom, and presence. Their strength isn’t loud, but it’s steady - and it’s the kind of strength that creates real change.

As we move through this Year of the Horse, my hope is to carry that same energy into the work I do with you: grounded, compassionate, and forward-focused. I believe deeply in our ability to move toward a positive future—not by ignoring what we’ve been through, but by allowing it to shape us with care.

May this year invite movement where things have felt stuck, courage where there’s been doubt, and peace where there’s been struggle.

I like to help people to feel happier about their life. Sometimes we can get stuck doing or feeling something that makes us unable to move forward in the direction of our choice. Whether it be lack of confidence, anxiety issues, depression, fear or phobia or something else, I’d like to help you. I specialise in the following but this list is not exhaustive:

I hold the HPD, the highest level of qualification available for hypnotherapy and trained at The Clifton Practice, reputed to be one of the two best training schools in the UK. I am a Supervisor and Senior Lecturer for CPHT Surrey training school and a member on the AfSFH, CNHC & NCP and abide by their ethics and guidelines to ensure that I offer the highest quality service possible. I’m fully insured and hold a full DBS certificate. Being Solution Focused is the difference that makes the difference in my work. No need to dig up the past!
