🇬🇧 Remembrance Day 🇬🇧
Today, we pause to honour and remember all those who served, sacrificed, and gave their lives for our freedom.

At Arthur Baxter Funeral Directors, we join the nation in a moment of reflection and gratitude — for the courage of those who came before us, and for the peace they helped secure.

“At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.” 🌺

Welcome to our November Newsletter! 🎉

We are excited to share our upcoming events, seminars, and local community partnerships with you. Our newsletter highlights some of the amazing activities we have each month, and we hope you enjoy it! 🎉

We are on a journey to help change how people perceive funeral directors. Often, we are only seen during the most difficult times, but we want to change that. By visiting local places, giving talks, and attending fairs, galas, market stalls, and schools, we aim to make people feel more comfortable talking to us about such a sensitive subject.

At Arthur B Baxter Funeral Directors, we believe it's important to show our personal side and let you see the incredible team of people who go above and beyond every day for our families and their loved ones. Our local community is as important to us as our rich history, and we are dedicated to providing the highest level of care and compassion.

Every month, we will share a new edition of our newsletter via social media and email, with a paper version also available at our funeral home.

To ensure you don't miss out, please email us to be added to our mailing list or to discuss creating a partnership. 🎉

In Loving Memory of Christine Crowther
Christine passed on the 23rd of October 2025 at home with her loving family around her

Born on the 17th of June 1947 at St Luke's, Christine was the cherished daughter of Alfred and Dorathy Lindly. She grew up in Manningham, off Wheatly Hill, before the family later settled in Heaton. Christine was the much-loved sister of late Brother Douglas and baby brother Steven, who sadly passed at just two months old.

Christine met her first husband Wilfred and together they welcomed two sons Neil born in 1972 and Ian born in 1976, both sons gave her adored Grandchildren: Ellie, Sonnie, and Martha. Christine was a proud Grandmother and loved her family dearly including daughter in law Sharon and Aimee.

Working very hard throughout her life Christine started at a sewing firm in Bradford learning to make garments and later working at the Busfield Arms local to her home.

Christine loved sewing, knitting, crosswords, and painting - anything using her hands

Christine met her beloved husband, John, while working at Dick Hudson’s public house, and they shared 27 years of happy marriage.

John, along with Neil, Ian and their families took beautiful care of Christine until the day she passed, always letting her know how much she was loved.

Christine's funeral service will be held at Shay Grange Crematorium on Wednesday 12th November at 1:30pm, family have asked for non-traditional dress please.

Family flowers only please. Donations if desired can be made in Christine's memory to Manorlands Hospice and a box will be provided for this on the day.

🌿 The Heart of a Funeral Director 🌿

Most days begin quietly. Before the phone rings or a family walks through the door, there’s a moment to pause — to take a breath and prepare for the day ahead. Because every day brings with it a new story, a new family to care for, and a loved one to honour.

Being a funeral director is more than a role — it’s a calling. Some days are filled with gentle guidance, helping families who don’t know where to begin. Other days are spent behind the scenes — arranging flowers, music, transport, and paperwork, so everything unfolds with grace and dignity.

And then there are the quiet moments no one sees — lighting a candle before the service begins, straightening a tie, placing a flower with care, or giving a family time alone to say their final goodbye. These small acts, though unseen, carry great meaning. They’re done with love, respect, and the hope of bringing a little peace to heavy hearts.

Every detail matters, because every life is unique. Each service tells a story — a reflection of the person who lived, loved, and made their mark on the world.

No two days are ever the same, because no two lives ever are. That’s what makes this work so deeply special — walking beside families, helping them find comfort, and creating a farewell that feels true to the one they love.

Because saying goodbye should be a moment to come together — to remember, to share stories, and to feel the love that lives on.

At the heart of it all, it’s not just about saying farewell — It’s about creating a moment that celebrates a life, and walking beside people when they need it most. 💛

Sadly, this is heartbreakingly true 💔

Lately, more and more drivers are becoming impatient on the roads — trying to push into funeral cortèges, squeezing between the hearse and the limousines carrying grieving family members, and even during our horse-drawn funerals. It’s reached the point where near accidents have happened, all because someone couldn’t wait a few extra moments.

We completely understand that we travel slowly — but this is someone’s final journey, and every part of it is carried out with love, care, and respect.

At the same time, it’s truly heartwarming to see so many people who do still show respect as we pass. Those who stop, remove their hats, bow their heads, or simply pause for a moment — you may not realise how much that means. To the families following behind, those small gestures speak volumes. They bring comfort in a time of deep sorrow and remind everyone that compassion and respect still exist in this world.

Whether it delays you by 30 seconds or two minutes, please remember — this moment will never happen again.
For that family, it’s the last journey they will ever take with their loved one.

A final journey is so precious 🤍
