What a month of December! It’s been an amazing month with plenty going on for residents, relatives and staff to enjoy including the Church Carol service with Rev’d Martin and Annie, musical moments with lovely Marion who gives us all a work out and gets our vocal chords singing at our best. Emma James female vocalist came to Entertain and had the residents singing away and also there were Christmas prizes to be won with the big Christmas bingo bonanza! The residents enjoyed the Brass band that came from Beckfoot Grammar school and activity staff member Tracy played Christmas carols and songs on the Grand piano. Bingley Grammar school choir came to sing and brought the residents Christmas presents which was so kind and had a good chat with everyone. The residents decorated Yule tide logs and licked the spoons clean at the end of the session - Yum!! Saxophone player Neil came to play for the residents and also Cullingworth Ukelele group. It wouldn’t be Christmas without a pantomime- oh yes it would! Puss in boots was performed by North East producers and had the residents in stitches! It stayed fine for the Great Christmas pudding race in which raised £70 for our chosen charity British heart foundation and the winning residents, relatives and staff won Christmas puddings! A fantastic Christmas buffet had been prepared by the brilliant kitchen staff on our Christmas party day and the wonderful Andy Wiseman came to entertain with his fabulous singing. There was lots of dancing and singing during the afternoon. It was hot chocolate with cream, marsh mellows and Panettoni for an afternoon treat during the run up to Christmas and a special visit from Mr and Mrs Claus on Christmas Eve with the wonderful sleigh full of presents for the residents was truly amazing. Five Rise would like to wish everyone a very Happy New Year, all the very best for 2026!!
