Another fun and interesting month for the residents at Five Rise Nursing Home. The weather stayed fine for the fireworks display and the residents enjoyed traditional pie and peas and Parkin. All staff and residents paid their respects on Armistice day observing two minutes silence and remembering our fallen comrades. Residents had a morning of building with jenga blocks and being creative with potato heads adding their own designs. Marion from musical moments delivered a fun afternoon session with exercise, song and dance. Ukelele Henry came to entertain the residents and serenaded the ladies with his singing. Zorba the Greek had residents and staff Dancing during a Greek afternoon with Greek deli bits to eat including tzatziki, Olives and pitta bread. The home is now trimmed up all ready for Christmas with a fun filled very busy Christmas time table for the residents to celebrate during our festive season! Merry Christmas to all of you!

Five Rise started there month of October off with a Natural world day and who better to watch on the TV but Sir David Attenborough. The residents also enjoyed the Natural world day buns and quiz. Marion delivered a very colourful musical moments session with lots of ribbons being waved around by the residents and a fab sing a long too. Five Rise held there Harvest festival which was very well attended. Plenty of homemade birthday cakes and buns during the month of October YUM! The ladies Soroptimist came and helped the residents make a brilliant Halloween wreath that has been displayed in the home for all to see and an arts and craft session was held with the nursery children and residents who made some scarecrow faces. The residents enjoyed female vocalist Emma James who had the residents singing away to endless famous songs throughout the decades. A German October fest was held at Five Rise with residents tasting different beers and lagers along with German deli which went down a treat whilst listening to the jolly sound of Umpha music. Our month finish with the residents celebrating Halloween with a great concert from Scott Richards who had the residents dancing in there chairs and also enjoying the Halloween buns made by the kitchen.

Another month flown by, where is the time going? The ladies Soroptimist came to do some crafts with the residents and made some Lavender bags and the smell in the lounge was beautiful. The residents had an afternoon with a Beatles sing a long and Beatles quiz with a reminisce about the dances that they used to attend. It was laughs all round when the game Pictionary was played with some of the drawings looking nothing like they were supposed to but our very clever residents guessed them all! An afternoon of call my bluff with Bingley Grammar School students was enjoyed by all and everyone laughed at some of the pronunciations of the words and yes they came out of the dictionary! The residents fired the beanbags at the cans with force in tin can alley and there was stiff competition from all opponents. 180!! Nearly, in the magnetic darts competition and the afternoon of crazy golf was enjoyed by the residents who participated. A Spanish afternoon with Five Rise very own seniorita and matador serving Sangria to residents with a photo shoot was enjoyed by all residents who were busy playing the castanets to the famous song viva espanya!

The month of August has been a busy one for the residents which started with a visit from Flash the miniature Shetland therapy pony. Residents got a lot of joy stroking him and asked Mollie lots of questions. Marion came to entertain the residents with the monthly musical moments in which the residents sang, did some chair exercise and played musical instruments throughout the afternoon. Tin can alley and crazy golf were played with lots of concentration from the residents. We had a Turkish afternoon and had none other than Turkish delight! The lovely Soroptimist ladies came and made some very pretty tissue flowers with the residents to put in their rooms. Plenty of birthdays to celebrate so lots of homemade cakes and buns were made for the residents to enjoy. The residents had some lovely afternoons with vocalist Andy Wiseman and sax player Neil Wilkinson. The mobile ice cream parlour has been doing its rounds with plenty of chocolate ices, ice lollies, cornetoes, and ice cream cones, the residents tucked into them on the hot sunny days with delight!

A great month for residents who have enjoyed plenty in the activity, social and leisure plan. Home grown strawberries and cream were yum as we celebrated Wimbledon tennis and then our holiday at home week with residents enjoying an Hawaiian Mocktail afternoon, fish and chips in a box and a fabulous concert by the chilton sisters. We had two summer competitions on the go included residents growing sunflowers from seed and guess how many sweets in a jar. Everyone was blown away by the beautiful sunflowers which grew some lovely big yellow flower heads. The residents enjoyed a summer sing a long singing 50’s 60’s and 70’s songs and we definitely have a five rise choir in the making! The residents sensory garden has been very colourful and the members of the gardening club have been busy collecting all the crops for the kitchen to use. During the nice weather residents have been spending time on our bygone days street and had some good old reminiscing looking at the collection of memorabilia bringing back lots of memories to share. Some residents have had their birthdays and enjoyed the fantastic home made birthday cakes made by the kitchen staff!

The residents at Five Rise enjoyed a big indoor street party celebrating VE Day 80th year and also had a delicious cream tea. The residents also showed off there artistic skills in our art class with colourful painted pictures of flowers. North East producers came to perform a summer show with plenty of songs to bring out the sunshine. Saxophonist Neil played for the residents with a lovely selection of songs and Ukulele Henry performed an afternoon of entertainment for the residents to sing a long too. We had an Indian deli afternoon to celebrate Bradford city of culture and the residents enjoyed the first bowl of strawberries from our very own garden. The residents have been flower arranging and playing crazy golf which was so much fun. Marion fromMusical moments came and delivered a fun filled afternoon with plenty of laughter.

Plenty of fabulous entertainment at Five Rise over the Easter period for the residents to enjoy including Scott Richards, Andy wiseman, Haworth Ukulele band, a family Jazz band and Musical moments who have just won winner 2025 care sector awards, congratulations! The residents have been busy with the gardening club and have also planted sunflower seeds for a competition. The Soroptimist ladies came and kindly brought some chocolate goodies for the residents to enjoy. St George’s day was celebrated at our very own Five Rise Returns pub with a little tipple and home made goodies. The residents have been keeping fit with Holmes dance academy doing a fortnightly seated dance and also an afternoon dance a thin. A Mexican afternoon was held with Mexican outfits and hats worn by the residents and staff to celebrate different monthly cultures with Mexican nibbles and juices. Residents have been enjoying the new activity ‘What’s in the box?’ With old artefacts and objects which has certainly brought up some conversations about there own lives and travels. Our Easter celebrations consisted of an Easter singalong, name the dog, Raffle and Easter goodies. The lovely cuddly dog was named Caramel!

Housekeeping Position
Five Rise Nursing Home in Bingley are looking for someone to join their dedicated housekeeping team.

The role is 24 hours per week. The regular working hours are 8am – 4pm, 3 days per week and include every other weekend.

There is potential to offer this role at an average of 28 hours per week, 4 shifts one week and 3 shifts the following week for the right candidate, (includes every other weekend).

Another exciting month with March flying by! The residents enjoyed the yummy treats of pancakes with different toppings with some having 2nd’s and even 3rd’s! A wonderful afternoon of entertainment with female vocalist Emma James who always delivers. Our seated dance class-with Fran from Holmes dance academy made sure everyone ‘s well-being was in tip top shape and a fabulous show was also performed by the dance students! Five Rise celebrated St Patrick’s day with a little tipple and singalong with the Irish wash a woman making an appearance with her dirty laundry. Treats were made by the kitchen for the residents to enjoy. Texas Rose line dancers came to Five Rise and showed off there wonderful talents dancing to very catchy music. Some residents celebrated birthdays this month with the most delicious home made cakes. The residents made lavender bags for their rooms with the ladies Soroptimist group. flower arranging made the residents feel that spring is well and truly here with all the beautiful colours especially the daffodil’s. Let’s hope April showers don’t follow!

Five Rise Nursing Home in Bingley are looking for someone to join their dedicated laundry team.
The role is 24 hours per week. The regular working hours are 8am – 4pm, 3 days per week and include every other weekend. There is a potential to offer this role at 6 hours per day over 4 days a week (including every other weekend) for the right candidate.

Another month gone by, just where is the time going? During the month of February the residents have been on some trips, an invite from Beckfoot school was accepted and the residents attended an afternoon tea with the students and played bingo. Musical moments came to the home to entertain the residents with singing, playing the ukulele and abit of exercise thrown in as well. Next trip was to Memory lane at Cottingley for another cream tea and sing a long. The ladies Soroptimist group came to do some crafts with the residents and made some beautiful smelling lavender bags. The residents also enjoyed all things Italian with a quiz, Italian coffee and Bellini mock tail afternoon with Italian Tiramisu mini cakes that just melted in your mouth. The residents also had a Valentines flower arranging session and a romantic singalong which nearly brought the roof down! And also celebrated were the birthdays of February with the most amazing birthday cakes made in house. The Dolly mixture choir did a splendid performance of different songs and recitals with some comedy thrown in, very much enjoyed by residents, relatives and staff . Let’s see what March has in-store for Five Rise!
