Dear Patients,
Please be aware of the following road closure in Birchington.
A few of our patients have already been caught out and not able to navigate to their appointments.
Kind regards -
BC&PS
---------------------------------------------------------------------
It will be necessary to close part of Minnis Road, Birchington, currently planned from 1 June 2021, with estimated completion by 1 July 2021.
Minnis Road will be closed in the general vicinity of the railway bridge, with local access from either direction up to where the road is closed, but no through access.
The alternative route for through traffic is via St Mildred’s Avenue, Sea View Road, Grenham Road, Lyell Road and Station Approach (plus Sandles Road in opposite direction).
To avoid congestion on the diversion, parking will be prohibited at all times on both sides of Lyell Road / Grenham Road, from the entrance with Bierce Court eastwards to the eastern boundary of number 2 Grenham Road.
Due to the nature of the works, the above restrictions will remain in force at all times.
There will be an additional need to fully close the road to pedestrians and cyclists at certain times as follows.
Tuesday 1 June from 11.00 pm through until 5.00 am
Wednesday 2 June from 11.00 pm through until 5.00 am
Thursday 3 June from 11.00 pm through until 5.00 am
Friday 4 June from 11.00 pm continuing through until Sunday 6 June at 5.30 am
Friday 11 June from 11.00 pm continuing through until Monday 14 June at 5.30 am
Saturday 26 June from 11.00 pm continuing through until Monday 28 June at 5.30 am
The alternative route for pedestrians and cyclists is via a footpath leading to Conway Close, Cunningham Crescent, Duncan Drive, Grenham Road, Lyell Road and Station Approach.
On-site arrangements will be in place for pedestrians who are unable to use this diversion.
To allow safe access for the delivery of bridge units and for the delivery and subsequent removal of a crane, waiting and loading shall be prohibited on Minnis Road at the times shown below, as and when clearly indicated by no waiting signs and cones placed on site.
3 & 4 June 2021 between 7.00 am and 5.00 pm each day
11–14 June 2021 inclusive, continuously at any time.
The restrictions are to enable bridge reconstruction works to be carried out by BAM Nuttall Limited, working with Network Rail.
The planned dates and duration may change for various reasons including the current coronavirus situation and adverse weather conditions, with any changes signposted on site and notified locally.
