First Team Blizard Race Report of 2026
Firstly a very Happy New Year to everyone and let’s together make 2026 even better than 2025 in terms of our running community results!
Thank you to everyone who took time to send in their individual results and it really does help us pull this report together.
We kick things off on Boxing Day where the super fast East Hull 10k run in the same park where the team have visited for our away day Park run.
Team Blizard has several athletes which are Hull based and well done to all of you who ran as there are too many of you to mention everyone!
A little nearer home the annual Boxing Day Campsall race took place where our very own Coach Tune won many many moons ago took place.
Once again we had a massive turnout of athletes in the great little local race with several of the “Ackworth Massive” running but we are delighted to report coached athlete Shaun Yates showed everyone a fresh pair of heels to retain his winners shield and any other week might have taken “ROTW” but more on that later!
The Jolly Holly Jog 10k was happy hunting ground for a man in form Jacob Clark who look 3rd place overall with an excellent run.
New Year’s Day Cleethorpes 10k took place in very cold windy conditions but once again the race produced some excellent results and with over 30 of you running the “well done” list would read forever so we have selected a couple of the more eye catching performances which include:
Danny James 3rd place overall
Jade Bennett only 4 seconds of her best ever time in her first race in 6 months
Jonathan Barnett new pb and V60 winner
Anna Thompson 1st V60 in a new age group!
Jenny Blizard who is slowly returning to form to just name 5!
Saturday saw the county championships over cross country and the Nottinghamshire event was held at Bulwell Hall where Worksop Harrier and training partner to many of you Tom Shaw had a fine race to secure his place in the county team for the Inter counties later in the winter.
Saturday was a busy day with the first of the "No Walk in the Park" 5k race at Chesterfield where coached athlete Ann Barker showed all the ladies a clean pair of heels as she took the overall ladies win!
The final race to report from was the St Albans 10k which provided coached athlete Seth Kirby with his first race for a very long time.
Sometimes an obscure race is a good one to do as nobody knows you and there is no pressure.
Not only did Seth run well but he came a fine 3rd position overall and smashed a new personal best time of 33.27mins and also took this week’s title of “Run of the Week”.
Massive well done to everyone who raced and looks like 2026 has started with a bang!
Until next week……..keep training!
