The drop in is open to patients across the PCN from Paxton Medical Group, Prenton and Woodchurch Medical Centre and Heatherlands Medical Centre.

It’s Crohn’s and Colitis Awareness Week.

Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis are Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD) that can cause gut inflammation and painful ulcers.

Symptoms can be similar to other conditions, so don’t try to diagnose yourself. See your GP if you're worried about symptoms.

Lovely to welcome Gurpreet Narwan and the team from Sky news to Paxton Medical Group & Healthier Neighbourhoods PCN today. Gurpreet, Business and economics correspondent, is making a documentary about employment and health inequalities in and around Bidston and spoke with Dr Fraser about the health barriers to employment, along with lots of other topics including social prescribing, youth mental health, the pandemic, cost of living crisis, and the health challenges facing our patient populations.
The documentary is due to air later this month.

Lot's on this week across our PCN!

What's on this week across our PCN. Groups and events are open to all patients from across the PCN practices; Heatherlands Medical Centre, Paxton Medical Group, Prenton and Woodchurch Medical Centre.

Tuesday 25th : Walk & Talk Group - Meets 11am at Paxton Medical Group, Claughton. Join our Health Coaches and this welcoming group as they head out for some fresh air and great conversation in Birkenhead Park.

Wednesday 26th: Social Prescribing clinic 9am-12noon at Paxton Medical Group, Claughton - Our Social Prescribers will be on hand to support with any issues you may be facing at the moment, from housing concerns, to fuel poverty, debt, family issues, social isolation etc. You don't need an appointment, just drop in.

Thursday 27th: Are you a carer? Join us at Heatherlands Medical Centre for our drop in Carers Coffee + Catch up 1pm-2pm Our Care coordinator will be on hand to help with any support you may be seeking

Starting next week, our new Social Prescribing Drop- In Hub launches at Paxton Medical Group Claughton . Join our social prescribers Wed 19 November between 9am-12noon. They will be on hand to support our patients from across the PCN. Social Prescribers can help patients who are struggling with:

Family issues
Housing problems
Fuel poverty
Debt
Gambling
Social isolation

The drop in hub will be open every Wednesday from tomorrow, Wednesday 19th November through to the end of January. No appointment necessary.

Although routine invitations stop after age 71, you can still self-refer every 3 years for a free breast screening.
📞 Call the Breast Screening Team on 0151 482 7661 to make an appointment.

📍 Available at Clatterbridge or St Catherine’s Hospital.
