Avoiding it is easier in the short-term, but creates pain in the long-term. Facing it is harder in the short-term, but creates ease in the long-term.

We all would prefer to avoid the upsetting or painful things in life. But in trying to protect ourselves through avoidance, we often end up m increasing our suffering.

The next time this you’re avoiding something that needs to be faced, try this: think about how facing it will help you to be the person you aspire to be.

For example:
* If you’re avoiding setting a boundary, tell yourself: “I’m a person with self-respect, and this is a moment to demonstrate that.”
* If you’re avoiding a difficult conversation with a loved one, tell yourself: “I’m a person who shows up to work on my relationships, even when it’s hard.”
* If you’re avoiding a chore or responsibility, tell yourself: “I’m a person who follows through on my commitments.”

This shift in focus — from the present pain to the future gain — can help you tap into your deep well of courage. Even when it seems scary, please remember: you can face this thing.

Does it seem like more adult women than ever are being diagnosed with ADHD? There’s a reason why.

Recent research shows these diagnoses are rising—not because the disorder is new, but because studies and surveys are finally highlighting how ADHD presents in women. Factors include subtle symptoms, decades of underdiagnosis, and social “masking,” while telehealth and awareness campaigns have made it easier for women to seek evaluation.

Happy October! 🎃👻
ADHD is more than just being “distracted” or “hyper”. It’s a neurodevelopmental condition that affects focus, emotional regulation, time management and so much more.
Many people with ADHD go undiagnosed, especially women and adults, and live with challenges that are often misunderstood.
This month we’re shining a light on what ADHD really looks like, breaking down myths, and sharing tools and support that makes a difference

NEW AND ONLINE DATES:
We are now offering a QLS level 5 diploma in working therapeutically with neurodiversity, from September, taking place over three weekends located in Birkenhead, Merseyside.
This practical, neuro-affirming course is designed for qualified counsellors working under supervision who want to enhance their skills and understanding when working with neurodivergent clients. It will help you:
- Understand neurodivergence from diagnostic, functional, and lived experience perspectives
- Explore how anxiety and trauma commonly show up in neurodivergent clients — and how to respond in ways that heal, not harm
- Learn how to adapt your counselling approach to meet individual needs and sensory preferences
- Build a strong, strengths-based foundation for neuro-affirming practice
- Feel more confident supporting clients who may have found therapy inaccessible or invalidating in the past.
The course is delivered by practitioners with both lived experience and extensive professional expertise and you’ll leave this course with a deeper understanding of what neurodivergent clients want from therapy, along with practical tools and insights you can immediately bring into your work.
