Gearing up for December and the end of market season for 2025, and I’m pretty excited about the whole thing 🥳🎄

I will be out with the stall on the run up to Christmas before I take a break from markets until at least March next year. l have had fun creating some new seasonal blends which will be out on the stall along with the regular herbals and teas.

Sooooo if you’re after a stock up of your teas and herbals to keep you going or you are looking for an ethical present for someone that won’t end in landfill, I will be out at my regular markets and happy to say I’ll be back at the Stirchley Community Market Christmas 🎄 🔔 🎄 🔔 🎄

Testing the soil today at the community herbal medicine plot. Test results - soil smell - none, worms - 1 , scientific conclusions - much more organic matter needed! 🪱
Pic 5 Rebecca looking super pleased with all the grafting she did today. No pics of us sitting down eating cake .
If hunting for worms, making mud balls, doing experiments with soil in jars, putting the world to rights whilst drinking tea and eating cake sounds like your thing, this community herbal medicine allotment may be your thing! Did I mention medicinal plants? There will be an abundance of medicinal plant growing and medicine making too 🌱

Fancy coming down to the Community Herbal Medicine Garden this November?
We unearthed from within the brambles a previously created pond, so we’ll be continuing to clear that area and start to redevelop a pond and bog garden area. We will also be making a start plotting out the herbal spiral garden area this month.
If you fancy coming along give me a message or a 👍 on the WhatsApp group

Plants will never cease to amaze me. ‘Horse tail’ equisetum arvense, an ancient primitive plant.
When lifting a plastic membrane that had previously been laid at the community allotment today, we uncovered the rhizomes of a plant not ready to give up. Horse tail is notoriously difficult to manage, due to its deep roots and spreading rhizomes. As we found today - years after being ‘smothered’ it had found a way to survive the blanket of plastic.
So whilst putting the world to rights we made horsetail wreaths and discussed the medicinal uses from tissue healing to prostatitis.

Progress today on the community allotment 🌱
After years of neglect it’s great to uncover evidence of previous planting at the site
Today - the pear tree and horsetail
Anyone who wants to come down on Saturday we will be looking at horsetail and it’s medicinal properties, and eating apples

You may have heard me mention - quite a few times - that myself and fellow medical herbalist are working on a community herbal medicine garden in Birmingham. We are looking to promote herbal medicine, create opportunities for medical herbalists and herbal students and for those with an interest in herbal medicine or community gardening. We are hoping to create a welcoming place for the local community and those who may not be local who wish to get involved in some shape or form.
Soooo if any of that sounds interesting to you, or you are just looking for something to do one day here are the dates for October 🍂 🍁

Feel free to pass on to anyone who may be interested.

We had the gorgeous setting of Packwood House, Warwickshire for Saturdays workshop where we celebrated the wonderful hedgerows and woods and their generous Autumn medicine.
The gardens at Packwood are stunning, and we were nestled in beside the Yew Garden in the gorgeous stone ‘summerhouse’. It was a real privilege to have been invited back there with Pyn to deliver our Seasonal Brew workshop, combining folklore herb-lore brew-making and story. 🍂 🍁 🍂
